Sounds to me like you have a saxo :p They're all the same, 1st and reverse are usually a pain to get into.

Try changing the gearbox pin, easy fix and chances are its this not the linkages.

think you clutch cable will need adjusting, 5 min job, it to the left of your battery, down near the bottom of the engine, the to nuts on it, a locking nut and the nut to adjust it, you need to undo the locking nut then tighten the nut that adjusts the cable, only a couple of turns, to much and your clutch will start to slip, if not it could be clutch

Just changed the selector linkage (long arm) because my mate popped the old one off forcing it into gear! New selector rod an the car refuses to go into 1st gear? Crunches in reverse an cluncks into all the other gears
Biting point feels fine
All gears are selected fine when engine off! Setting off is a mission.. Ignition off first gear, dipped clutch ignition on and then drive off!
My guess is the thrust bearing on the clutch?
Squeak when you dip the clutch and a whine from the engine with clutch up!
Not sure if its the belt yet
1.1 2003 reg 60k miles any ideas?
