I've had this problem for quite some time and I'm yet to figure out what it is. But as I'm now looking to sell on the car in the next few months, I'm trying to sort out all the problems first, rather than dumping them on someone else.
It started out as a fairly quiet squeek, much like if you can imagine a bicycle that needs oiling. But it's gradually become louder, more frequent and more concerning.. It's definitely coming from the front wheels area, though I couldn't say which as it could be both?
A bit of background on the car; Saxo VTR (on a 52 plate) When purchased, the noticeable modifications already in place were the Induction Kit, Uprated front discs (Vented, Drilled, Grooved and possibly bigger?) EBC Pads and if the Discs are bigger then possibly bigger calipers?
Something I have noticed and I'm unhappy with is the clearance between the discs and the lower ball joints (possibly, it's a ball joint beside the disc) which appears to be 1cm.. both sides are like this and I would imagine the smallest amount of force would induce contact.
I've had ideas off friends, some have suggested CV boots, but I had one of these replaced (nearside) when I got the car. Other suggestions have been bearings (quickly shrugged off).
Also, another thing I noticed, which I will get pictures of is on the ball joints I mentioned, there seems to be a small shield on one side, but not the other.. possibly due to the distance from the disc.. on the side where the shield is still intact, it would and does make contact if moved around to face the disc.. Would it be wise to change this?
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful as I'd like to get this resolved ASAP. My first thoughts are to change the discs and pads to a set of standard VTR ones, any thoughts?
