Cant realy find an answer to this, its a 02 vtr, as the engine warms up i get a smell of coolant through the air vent but goes away after its fully warmed up, i also noticed a little drip from the footwell air vent now and again, it has a gritty feeling like coolant but not sure if it is, can get pics if needed, it doesnt seem to be using coolant, i dont want to go ahead and say its a matrix if it isnt, sorry if this has been asked before but any help appreciated thanks

Matrix is dash out job yeah. Temp fix is plump together the pipes that go to it in the engine bay, will stop you loosing coolant but obviously no heat.

Sorry to capitalize on your woe, but if you need one, i've got a heater matrix from an 03 vtr here which i need to sell on :)

Taste a tiny bit of the fluid thats dripping, just a tiny bit on your tongue remember! If it's really sweet then it's the coolant, and your matrix is fucked, and it's a full dash out job which is an absolute cunt of a job.
Or as above you could just connect the pipes so that it doesn't leak, but you'll have no heat.. Temporary fix but it's summer so will be warmer. And keep an eye on your coolant level if it's leaking

Yeah the dash removal on a saxo is actually pretty nice compared to other cars
