quick question - oil cap

oil cap is leaking on my vts and making a right mess, my mate told me that its because someone will have lost the washer on the inside to keep it tight?

is it supposed to have one? or do i just need a new cap?

there should be an elastic gasket like circle thing around the oil cap. If not just go to a scrappy and get some off another saxo.
