Im selling my car on ebay, some guy who said hes a marine said he wants the car for his dad for a bday present. He said he's a marine and is over seas but he said he would get his agent to come pick the car up. He's sent me a payment of £1,680 to my paypal address but i've received many emails from paypal saying this money will not be in your account until you have sent a payment of £500 to the buyers agent via western union, and theres name and address of the agent there. Baring in mind, i said i won't accept any less than £680 for the car, and he told me he'd included the £500 to send to his agent but he's sent me £1680 which by my mathmatical skills should be £1180 including the £500? All the emails i received are from service@paypal.com and theres transaction numbers, rout codes and everything, just like a usual paypal email is set out and it says the money is safe with paypal and will be cleared into my account as soon as i have sent them a MCTN tracking number which i presume i receive when i send the money so it seems legit and he's emailing me, seems friendly and what not but is this usual that i have to send his agent £500 of my money before the money he's sent me can be cleared into my paypal account?

Wouldnt it be easier and cheaper for the marine to get his mate to buy the car and give it to his dad rather than getting 'an agent' ... lol

the moneys already been sent to me. Paypal have confirmed that in many emails. Heres one of them.

We hereby want to assure you once again that the total sum of £1,680 , will be credited into your account as soon as you provide us with the complete details of the western union money transfer used to send the additional fund of £500.00 meant for the item pick up to the buyer's pick up agent. We also want you to know that your money has already been deducted from the buyer's account and it cannot be returned back to him which means that it is secure with us but has been put on hold and will not be credited into your account until we receive the necessary details from you. The western union money transfer information's needed are the MTCN, and also the sender's name and address used to send the money. This information's will be given to you by western union after the money transfer has been done.

We are sorry for any inconveniences this might have caused and we want you to know that the total sum of £1,680 is ready and available to be credited into your account as soon as the necessary steps are taken by you.

Also, take his email address and sign him to as many Spam orientated sites as possible. So sign him up to Gay Scat Lovers.com, and Gay Lonely Hearts etc. It'll do minimal damage, other than be a minor nuisance but you may as well fuck around a bit - send him a few more emails with lots of random questions about the sale, basically drag this out for as long as you can, pretending to be a naive seller. waste his time make him think he's nearly got his hands on loads of cash.

He doesn't want the car just the £500 you send him via western union.

Anyway, he wants to buy my GT3 RS which is advertised at £84,000 (sent him pics i found on the web). He has subsquently sent me £94,000 to a "paypal" account that doesn't exisit!! This guy is an amatuer.

I'm interested in the above named item you posted on gumtree. So I want to know if it's still available for sale? Get back ASAP.

Thankx.

and another froma smith cole saying:

I am interested in this product.Do you still have it for sale?kindly get back to me as soon as possible.

The reason i think there cons, is becaus both emails end @gmail.com (the same as this other dick) and the 2 lines at the top of the message? I replied just saying yes its still for sale, and i'm awaiting a reply, but is there anyway of seeing there frauds?

Tell them it's view, buy and drive only. No delivery.

Simple. Do not accept paypal. Do not accept fucking western union. Jesus Christ the piss poor spelling and referring to your car as a 'product'. Anything that deviates from the standard activites of selling a car is going to be a fake. Don't click on the links in any email from a seller. Anything where you have to send money is obviously a fake. Honestly you shouldn't have ask about this, it's worrying there are people out there that are unsure about these sort of things.

TheVtrKid

Barry123
10th April 2010, 11:18
Fuck me

I'm straight so no thanks.

Look for gay names, who the fuck is christened 'smith' as a first name? Why hasn't any of them referred to your actual car in the email? These cockmunchers are running off hundreds of emails a day so they're just copy and pasting a generic 'i'm interestedz in yourz product' email with the hope someone will reply.

It's when you reply that they'll get specific... 'Can youz sendz moneyz to my agentz' etc all that bollocks

just reply as you have done 'yep still for sale' and maybe indicate times you are free for a viewing, that'll weed out the scammers since,
a) they're in Nigeria so can't view the car
b) they're wanting you to 'send' the car via an agent
c) they'll respond with a generic email indicating they want to do it by an agent and completely ignore what you've written

in which case you then know who's more genuine and who's being a prick.

Sorted

TheVtrKid

ye thats why i just said ye still for sale, cheers. lol 100% bullshit

I used to get these all the time when selling my car for the first time, i just went along with it as i knew it was a scam

told them to send a cheque

it came through the post, nationwide cheque, had clearly been printed out on a home printer, didnt even line up right, the quality of ink was crap and he clearly cut it with scissors lol

i emailed back "do you think i was born yesterday" and never got a reply :)

Email addresses mean nothing, i could send an email appearing to be from you to yourself now. IMO its a scam.

12th April 2010, 01:33
also you have to make sure when you read the email ....@paypal.com make sure there is no other email aka accountant emails in with it! they are all comiing from nigeria, alot of them use google mail(gmail) as emails. and the forge the paypal images because it is one of the easiest ways to scam.

also alot of these fake emails from "paypal" often ask you to confirm the order and when you post a item with either money or clicking on the email which takes you to a phishing site when you type your email and password in it goes to a email or a scammers server not paypals server,(if you right click a page and view source if you know what your looking for you can see where your details are being sent to) there are to many paypal scams around at the minute. paypal need to lock their sources so people cant forge their website, emails ect

if you do alot of online selling via paypal or ebay ect .Try and get into some whitehat hacking sites (or black hat website and im not advertising hacking here by the way) to learn what hackers are using most these days you will notice a scam as soon as you see one then it helps alot.

also when you get given a address for posting a item to another country of somesort always check the postal or zip code as some of these may look like there from another country or place but actually post/zip code is just made to look longer and if you break it down it actually (95% of the time) its in the uk and either takes you to a empty house or the actual scammer address.

just some advice if any one needs a hand with stuff like this give me a message

Luck you mate. I've had my car on ebay for 6 days, and i've received 3 of these scams. Us people take time and care in cleaning the car inside and out so it looks nice for the photos, then time making descriptions as clear as possible about the car etc, and all you get is assholes like that. Complete assholes.

I've had one like it mrs was looking for a car she saw an audi on auto trader she emailed asking about it and got a reply saying the seller was a doctor and had moved to Greece so didnt need his car, it said his family in leeds were were holding the car and would deliver when he got the money sent. I replied saying if car was in Leeds i'll go meet his family with it only been 20 miles from me and would give them the money to send him i just kept him going as much as i could be bothered thought it was a scam as car was way too cheap. One of his emails even mentioned send the money through ebay for a car for sale on trader.

Well i read through the whole thread, and no one could establish wether this was genuine or a scam.

But then i read alz327's post on the last page saying it's a "scam for sure", and was shocked to find out that it is a scam

I wasn't gonna read the last page, as i thought there was no hope of anyone giving a clear answer wether this is a scam or not, but luckily i did!

Thank you for your post alz327

Well I'm gonna say I don't think it's a scam, think you should give it a go, see what happens!

EDIT: I know I already said it's a scam earlier in thread, but IDC. Go for it mate, you might get lucky and make a fortune!

Your post is invalid for having to even ask if it was a scam in the first place, thus creating 6 pages of pure shit. Peter has a valid point, if the guy can't be bothered reading threads, he shouldn't really be posting in them, it's just not the done thing on forums. Even then, you would think that common sense dictates that within 5 pages the original question would have been answered given it's rather simplistic and obvious nature, unless of course there was something else mentioned that would be worth reading for. So what's it gonna be, does this thread have something in it worth reading about, or does the guy lack common sense? Considering he obviously didn't read the thread, the answer is clear...

Very true!

Some people don't read the threads replys, and then just post the exact same thing as everyone else has done! Without bothering their arse to read them!

So then i click on a thread i haven't seen, which is 4 pages long, and i take the time to read through it before offering my input, only to find theres 1 page of decent replies, and the rest are just simplified clone replys of all the other ones!

So VTRKid, think before telling me to shut the fuck up.. cheers kiddy x

Their intention isn't to send anyone out at all, so this wont work

He doesn't want the car he just wants the £600 transaction fee that you send back to him
