I think you just need to search the site, try 106 owners club as well, they might have a gude as well.

1 Jack up rear of car place on axle stands.
2 Drop rear seats and locate 4 large bolts in the oval recesses. 2 under the rear seats 2 under the boot liner.
3 Go under the car and loosen/disconnect the hand brake cables and the 2 brake lines(use a proper 10mm bake line spanner to prevent rounding) that connect to the beam from under the car.
4 This makes it easy if you are on your own, place 2 trolley jacks under the beam.
5 You need 2 people for this bit really. Undo the 4 large bolts now, they are usually pretty tight and will normally have to be held underneath the car buy a mate to stop them spinning.
6 Now take note of how the large washers go on each of the bolts before you lower the beam.
7 Lower the beam down with the trolley jacks & pull clear, watch the petrol tank recess for the beam that the brake lines and beam clear it.
You are done.

Reverse to fit a different beam.

You can leave the brake disc's on and shock's and swap them over whilst it's off mate.

Refit is reverse but remember to bleed the brakes and adjust the handbrake cable. Hope this helps it doesn't take long use WD40 first on the nuts, take your time, the beam is a bit heavy if you are on your own, Good luck Rez.
If I missed anythig others will add too I'm sure but's that's how I did mine.

would it be easier if youre not too good with brakes just to take the calipers off the original beam and suspend them from the bodywork and then reattach the calipers to the new beam when fitted, or is there a good reason not to do this

I'd rather undo two brake lines, instead of removing the calipers, bias valve, brake pipes from their clips etc.

If you've got snapped bleed nipples then going to have to remove all the brake parts from the beam.
