My engine has gone from being rather quitet to makeing a rather odd whining noise, when revs are up and when the revs naturally drop, just before it gets to idle, it makes a odd squeeking/chirping noise, for a few seconds then stops when it gets to idle, recently had service and timing belt.

aswell there is a very annoying vibrating/buzzing noise coming from behind the passenger side of the car when you go over 50mph, sounds a bit like a fridge lol

also... there is a very annoying squeeking noise coming from the drivers wheel when driving slowly through traffic, think it could possibly be the wheel bareing???

also... 1st and 3rd gears have gone quite lumpy to get in, reverse is almost impossible and 4th whines, which is also rather annoying, any ideas??? recently had clutch changed...

you've mentioned a whining noise from engine area and a recent timing belt. might just be on too tight or wrong way round? As for the gearbox whining on 4th and hard to get into gear it MIGHT be the gearbox on its way out. shouldnt cost more than £70 for a replacement one.

Timing belt too tight/slack/tensioner?

Passenger side....wheel bearing?

Drivers side....squeaky brakes/wheel bearing?

Clutch cable might need adjusting? In what part of the pedal travel is the biting point on the clutch? Could be gear linkages, or somethings happened when theyve put the gearbox back on, something damaged or mount failing making the box move and hence out of alignment for putting into gear properly.

Take it back to the garage you had the work done at and get them to take a look.

yeahh, will take it back in the week and get them to have a look, dont want the belt breaking :(

the clutch wasnt replacecd long ago, and the cable was supposidly adjusted on the service, which was in feb, the bite is just under half way up

as for the box, yeahh was thinking it may be on its way out, it clunks on gear changes too :(, its done 70k, thought it would have lasted longer than that tbh,

as for the squeeking, its like a intermittant squeeling on the drivers side, gets worse on corners, but only when going slow, like in traffic.

and the passengers side, its more of a dull buzzing, but its only when you go above 50mph was thinking it could be the drive shaft but not sure,
