Hi not been on here for a while but normally get some help :)

I had my car MOT'd today to see what it would fail on.

Its failed on caliper seizure therefore pads i fitted 6 weeks ago are under limit too. Fuel tank leaking. Service & Parking brake below requirements.

What I want to know is, is it worth taking the caliper apart, giving it a good clean and trying to sort it that way?

How do I go about adjusting the rear brakes?

The fuel leak is the main problem as I don't know where to start, I can smell it (it passed last year elsewhere) I took the grommit off under the rear seats and theres connections and a lid sort of thing? There's a layer of fuel lying there and can also see it being slightly damp around the top of the tank, but you cant see much?

Also it didn't fail on this but I had a look and can see the problem, the engine mount near the cat connection is worn, is this an easy fix?

Im not expecting to fix all this myself but will give some bits ago as i'm skint and not too bad around cars would just like some advice before I start, mainly on the tank leaking.

Cheers for any help given

you could give taking the calipers apart a go, start off with the cheapest fix first and work way up, try a hammer :) if not then just get new calipers, as for fuel leak, that your fuel pump, need a new one not to shure on price of them but not hard to change, if still leaking might be the tank and will need new one, btw what type of saxo it?

Thanks for the quick reply.

It's a vts.
I shall give that ago tomorrow then and hope for the best, even if it's just a temporary fix for now. Ill have a look around for fuel pumps too.

Ill post back tomorrow, if we have decent weather :)

check your filter? corrode if old. probably gonna need new caliper. u can try and free it off by pussing piston back and forth with vice.
if its vts it will have rear discs. so only way to adjust park brake is under the handle. unsure if its under car or inside??

yes thats what it looks like from ontop but cant see much as the size of grommit. Cant see exactly where its leaking from but its wet around there, weirdly enough my old vts had a petrol leak too :s

Hi again,...

I got the piston back on the caliper no problems, wound it out and cleaned inside so that is deffinately not seized.
What could the problem be for the brakes to slightly stick on one side then?

Think I will purchase a fuel pump and hope that fixes the leak, ive remembered something else, when I come to a stand still sometimes the revs die right down then get abit jumpy for a second or so.Could it be linked?

Cheers
