This thread is probably already fail asking on here :L

anyways i have about 2grand in the savings account. Ive just spent 400quid on new suspension for my 306 2.0 XSi.

I really really wanted to buy a VTS next... but the amount of problems im having with the 306 is really putting me off old frenchies.

Since i bought it ive done the following in 3 months

Full Service
New Airbox
Cyclones (cosmetic)
rear brakes and pads (driver side ceased)
2 new front bilstein dampers (delivered yesterday fitted last night)
30mm apex springs (car was at 60mm and spring had snapped)
new brake pads and disc for rear offside (has ceased!)
new backbox and centre section (they actually fucked up so just had a premium full exhaust fitted free this morning).
new drop link

Its going in on sunday to have the torsion bar raised to 30mm to match the front.

Its really starting to piss me of to be honest lol and getting 28mpg is really frustrating considering i do a 45mile commute daily. Blowing 180quid a month on fuel.

So im now kinda put off buying a vts. I fancy saving up abit more and getting a golf gt tdi 130 and getting it remapped at rtech which would give it 180bhp.

So i would save ALOT on fuel and german build quality means probably a lot less to fix.

After going to Williamsvts to get my suspension done last night i seen an icelandic grey vts and it was lush!

i dont know what to dooooooooo

helpz

Personally and I will get slatted for this:n: I would go for the golf as you said you looking for reliability and lower fuel price, plus you already answered your own question

It is prob going to cost you less in the long run, golfs are nice cars had a few in my day and guy in work has the gttdi(really nice) his is tunned to 186 if I am right which for a tdi is amazing and still gets good fuel economy.

In my opinion saxos are fun but come with eventual prob no matter which way you look.

Golf is leagues better in all aspects apart from handling, but you'll pay a lot more for one.

All down to what you can/are willing to spend. Having experienced both, I'd say go for the German if you can afford it.

Vts . . . .

Have you owned both or test driven both for a substantial amount of time?

I would go Golf without a doubt.
Had my Sax for 5 years, great car but a bit shoddy on the build quality.
My bro has had a Golf GTi for around 7 years. Both cars around the same age, but the Golf is soooo much more refined. More toys, much more comfort and more reliable.

I'll probably be getting a diesel Golf next year.

vts tbh golfs are so boring and heavy

everybody seems to miss the fun of the saxo when they move on
