Going to be starting my new job with Phones4u next month but first i've got a week training at their academy in Birmingham..
Just wondered if anyone here has been to this? Or possibly similar company academys and know what its like? Am i going to be bored out my mind after the training? Preferably i'd love to go out on the lash one of those nights but don't think that would go down too well ahaa

I worked for Phones4u for 2 years in a number of there stores.
Before changing to a car sales man for Ford Last June.
I worked in there Northfield, Harborne, Merry Hill (Dudley) and Perry Bar stores
which are all situated in or around Birmingham.
I went to a training facility called Yarnfield which is in Stafford.
But there new facility is in a very nice building called Fort Dunlop
(an old tyre factory)
It was nothing more than 'OK'.
Your 'NOT' aloud to drink when I went and if your caught drinking you will be
sent home from the facility and the position offered to someone else.
The day's are very intense, 9am till 5am with 3 break's and ALOT of roll play.
Phones4u when I worked for them where very pushy with there sales and so put
alot of customers off going there. If you fail to meet targets they will not hesitate
disaplin you without giving you a chance to put your view's forward.
There are better company's to work for but if you work in a big store then the
commison is ok...
Small stores, well, you'd earn more else where.
I was picking up £900 ish a month with commision
But good luck and I hope it work's out

Cheers for the heads up! Like you i am only going to be working for a few years there so i can get some sales experience under my belt but would rather work in Car sales as thats my passion. The store is relatively large, he said average takings per month are just over £1000. I'm pretty good at selling things in the past (privately) and have the gift of the gab ;) so hoping i'll be ok!

Trainer: Ok I need two volunteers for this roll play
*two guys put their hands up*
Trainer: Thanks. Ok, one of you will be the customer who is looking for a new phone and is wanting some advice. The other will be the sales person and will act like a complete cunt. GO!
*The two guys act out the roll play with the customer asking for an easy to use phone for his 70 year old mum and walking away at the end of a sale with a Blackberry*
Trainer: Good, but be a bit more cunty next time.

They not use Yarnfield anymore then?
My sister used to work at Phones4U in Stafford. Her boyfriend is manager of one of the Phones4U in Birmingham.
The income is very good depending on your role and obv amount of sales.

oh and they lie about plans as well :n: when i contested their claims about o2 excessive usage plans they obviously didn't want to know and became very nasty, its amazing what a bit of shitty commission can do to people,
offering commission in a retail store compromises customer service, but i guess phones for you aren't interested in customer service because once you've taken the contract they couldn't give a flying fuck
i have to say, id rather be a parking ticket guy then work at phones4u :y:

And like i said average is £1000, but sometimes you can walk away with £1300+ which is alot better than what i'm on now! Plus not much jobs going about now, and i need more moneyyyyy!
