2.0 Nova = Nuts! (bought another one, post #80)

Random thread, I know, but just thought I'd update you on my Nova.

Got it MOT'd and taxed on Friday and took it for a proper spin later on and I was shocked by the performance, I had same engine in my Corsa but it never felt this fast (Corsa even had a very healthy late XE too!).

Don't get me wrong the Corsa was nippy but this Nova is on another level, it picks up speed at any RPM, for example if I'm in 2nd or 3rd and on 2000 or even 1500 rpm and put my foot down it just takes off!

One more thing that I really like about it no power steering, I've always preferred cars with no PAS for some reason.

For the price I paid for it I can't think of anything N/A and faster. I'm also thinking of building a V6 Nova or Corsa this year, it'll have a Vectra GSI engine so 192bhp as standard :afro:

i like the nova xe's, theres plenty of potential and the engines are sooo strong if a little heavy. the westfields i work on go well with the XE in so i can imagine this being a fiesty little thing.

Lovely car that! Miss my c20xe'd corsa, I had it remapped and was stupidly quick like, sold it and the lad who bought it wrote it off very quickly after getting it. Real shame cos it was clean as fek and only needed a couple of minor things doing to it for a feature.

if your talking bout the 2.5 imo there about same as the xe... xe will rape it off mark as the v6 seems abit sluggish.. only top end the v6 will start to climb back.. unless youve done some serious mods on it then thats a different thing..

Maybe the V6 Corsa you went against was not running properly? Imo you have to sort out the flywheel and gearbox before a conversion for good acceleration.

The standard V6 flywheel is 16kg and uses the F23 or F25 gearbox (can't remember), so with a flat type flywheel and F16/F20 box it shouldn't have a problem going against a XE.

Someone on png got 12.5 from a V6 Nova so they're not slow.

The gearbox feels a bit long compared to my red one but thats because I'm used to the F16 acceleration

Best bit is I managed to get 45 miles to a gallon even though I was rallying it through B roads all the way to Newcastle!

And from experience I found these XE engines very strong so won't go wrong everyday, I only broke down once in the Nova, I thought the alternator stopped working but it turned out to be the batter

Well i can not find words to explain A xe'd Nova...

Went in one for the 1st time at the weekend only about 3 miles but it was Mad..

same stretch of road i was taken for a spin in my friends vx220t

that was faster like, but the nova felt soo stange...i was speechless!

Blue nova feels slow but once you look at the clocks you realise how fast you're going, 100 feels like youre doing 30

When I carry a passenger car feels noticeably slower, so it would have been even faster if it was just you in lol

I know Novas are light but those standard seats are heavy as fook

at one time i took them both out and replaced by one bucket seat :afro:
