Hi

do you guys think this is quite reasonable for a 17 year old on TPFT

its a 2000 year saxo vtr with

custom interior
aftermarket alloys
indcuction kit

this was with my mum and nan as named drivers both fully no claims ect

£2707 with admiral ??

considering a stock MG ZR was £2700 with admiral which i originally wanted but decided to go VTR :y:

Was planning to go with them, probably wouldn't of brought my VTR if I thought I wouldn't be able to insure with them.

Now I'm gettin quotes like £4,500 TPFT :wall:

Absolute pain in the arse aint it.

Think I'm gonna have to put the car in my moms name, get her to insure it and be a named driver..

Problem is the silly cows got 2 speeding fines, had a car robbed last year and crashed one the year before :wall:

however,

If I do that it's like £3,400 with the co-op fully comp.

Put your mum as the owner and you as the main driver. Brought mine down by £500, funny thing is she can't even drive my car as she has an auto license lol!

id say 2700 is very good for a vtr in your circumstances, kes - id call you a liar tbh:fcuk: quinn quoted me £1900 for a cinquecento s model (yes the 900cc, not the 1.1) at 18 with no no claims? jesus you got it good!

to be fair though, eating chicken paxo will be an insurance premium, my grandads insurance went up £10 a month when we changed our car from our 1.2 clio to our 1.1 saxo. he much prefers it for his daily runs though! like he had a choice, the mitsubishi spacestar belongs to grandmother now :y:

Sounds alright considering you're 17.

I'm 19 now, and my premium last year was £1800 mods declared.
My renewal quote with two years no claims is £1700..
I think if i wait a fortnight until i've 20 it should be cheaper though.

But yeh, expect to pay upwards of two grand. I paid 1800 for a 1.1 saxo when i was 17.

i'm 19, £1000 fully comp with 2 years no claims with quinn.

living in a nice area helps plus a clean lisence etc etc

dont put you mom/dad as the main driver and name yourself as second driver if she wont be driving the car.

this is called fronting and is illegal. insurance companies easily find out about this and you can get in a bit of bother for doing it!

im with Quinn at 2000 a year... Admirals quote was over 5000, and i didnt mention any mods, and i got a 1.1 and live in a tidy area! shocking

Wont have money to buy a new car when I'm 18 and then insure it aswell.

I knew I was going to be keeping whatever car I brought for a while so I didn't want a 1.1 that I'd always wish had a bigger engine.

Also, even on 1.2 corsas etc quotes for me are like £2000 TPFT, think it's because of where I live and if I could of insured a bigger engine car for the extra like £700 with quinn I thought, why not.

Be sensible

Your 17, buy a 1 litre car for the year, cost you about 500 for a decent one then after you have your first years no claims get a VTR

id never pay that much on insurance

MatthewRob
26th April 2010, 22:02
ye but the my mate pays £2500 for a 1.4 so he could still get a powerfullish engine

I got quotes for this on a VTR and im 17

i got quoted well over £5000 on my own policy with my dad as second driver TPFT
Then looked at a quote with me as named driver, and found it £1,900 Fully Comp!

No wonder many people are fronting, insurance is a joke :homme:

best just to insure in you own name esp when police pull you over. my first car 1.2 r reg corsa standard 2000quid tpft. when 21 bought a astra 1.6 8v 600quid fully comp 2years ncb accident. bought vts 23 650quid fully comp 700quid excess. 24 my vts lowered 600quid fully comp 700quid excess. be 450 next year 300quid excess i was 18 when had corsa. think insurance cheaper for your age now than whe i was 18
