Yep, it sucks, time to get a more economical car, and/or protest against the rising prices like numerous facebook groups etc are suggesting.

Fuel prices in GB are insane.

We’re cutting back (forcibly) due to extortionate tax on fuel.

Then there’s the fat, lazy, American c*nts in their 3lr suv's paying 30-40cent a litre, as well as the rest of the bast*rd world.

All just to pay back the twating debt the government have wasted on countless things.

I don’t think the amount of tax we pay reflects in any way, shape or form the amount of money spent on the NHS, Council, emergency services etc.

it’s a joke.

Jo3fish
16th April 2010, 09:27
Thats what im saying.

Did you not see the whole thing where one of the goverment MPs claimed that he claimed back money from tax payers money, to "pay of his morgage".

And this wasnt just 1000-2000, it was something like 27k. And after investigation they found that his morgage was already paid off!!

Now i dont know about anyone else.. but you know when your morgage is paid off.. you dont just "forget" which is what he claimed when he was caught. You can just turn around and say "oh.. i didnt realise id already paid my morgage off".

Then you get some of them claiming back money theyve spent on chrisps and pop from petrol stations!! a*seholes.

Apparently there is meant to be a one day boycott of petrol stations. This wont work because they know that eventually you are goin to have to fill up anyway.... the real way to do something about it is to only use certain brands. So Boycott Esso and BP as these are generally the two most expensive, but still use the likes of shell and jet etc. If everyone does it esso and bp will be losing out so they will have to put there prices down to provide competition, but even when they have put it back down a few pence, still stick with shell and jet because they will put theres down too, if you stick with it long enough you well get back down close the the £ mark

i've said this countless amounts of times now, on average the fuel companies are charging you about 20-30p a litre, the cost comes from tax boycotting all but one will make no difference to the tax

and besides that most fuel stations get their fuel from shell, bp, esso etc so you'd still be giving the big companies their money :)

The reason fuel prices are so high is because our stupid government is in so much debt that we have to get them out of it, its not like in the summer of 08 when prices went up to about 126 i think, because oil prices had gone up, the amount of tax is extortionate but i don't think anything will change unfortunately because petrol is such a neccessity for so many people.....

More tax, more potholes.

Apparently there is meant to be a one day boycott of petrol stations. This wont work because they know that eventually you are goin to have to fill up anyway....

You're partially wrong there: they still have to pay staff and other running costs. So a day without customers is still a loss. Now the real stuff: take a few trucks, block the motorways, country goes standstill and millions of pounds will be lost for petrol companies since less fuel is burnt.

tax law states you can not be taxed twice on your income....go figure

How about some VAT on your fuel duty ? Make that 3 times please.

presummebly they've whacked the price of petrol up as they can rape the tax from it...

surely this will go towards paying off the huge amount of debt the country is in, atleast they put it on something, which really we dont have to buy, as we could travel far more efficently...

No, because if a strike would happen, you'd get all the "smart" people taking part fill up the day before. So they will have a huge rise of profit the day before and that will balance out the next days losses. People need Petrol, and if they boycott a day, it will just be the day before or after they go and get petrol. Hardly boycotting it. If people want to boycott petrol prices they'd take Public Transport for say a week or a month, then the prices would lower as they don't have their customers, because the customers don't need petrol, yet people are too stubborn to take Public Transport.

But if there was a rise in more people wanting to take public transport, then the services would provide. People just like to moan about the price of petrol, when it's all a case of Supply beating demand at the moment, and there are other ways of getting to a destination. They're not forced to drive, they can take the bus/train.

i can't see them basicly "making" a load more public transport if its blatently not going to be for a huge amount of time, the only problem with this plan is that it's almost impossibly to get EVERYONE to not drive there cars and to strike, theres no way to get that much organisation !

This is narrow minded. The price of petrol affects everyone, whether you drive or not.

I am not moaning about petrol prices just because I like it. It is expensive, period. Of course I'm not forced to drive, but taking a combination of walk/bus/taxi/train would almost triple my journeys time, but also cost me even more.

Because you don't seem affected by the sky-high prices, doesn't mean others shouldn't complain. It's funny how you say the services would provide. Because as of right now, they don't. I don't fancy using chav filled transports that reek of piss and are more than often late.

The government hiked the prices, it is not a matter of supply and demand, it is not a question of weak pound. It's your favorite PM along with your favorites MPs, helping themselves deep in our pockets. Wake up.

You seriously need to wake up with your narrow minded views. If you actually look at my post I never said "boo-yah now I can drive and laugh at the poor people struggling". It's just laughable when people make petrol out to be a necessity with driving their cars when there are other ways to get to a destination. Instead of moaning, why not try other forms of getting there? Oh because it takes 3 times as long, so Petrol is bad, Public services are too lower class for you, and waste your time. You need to wake up to the world and realise inflation, taxes and supply and demand.

It's just laughable you call me narrow minded, when your post reeks of narrow minded views.
