Hope you have a good job for insuring a VTR as your first car, or that you are a female ;)

I didn't think that was possible!

Get a 1.1 for your first year.

With the money you'll save on insurance, you'll be able to get a better VTR next year.

Its Not that I think its too powerful for your first car . My Coupe was my first (working) car and Ive never had any problems.

Its the cost of Insurance and in my opinion its not woth the extra £1,000 over a 1.1

Not really any savings to be made tbh, apart from petrol. It's why I scrapped my 1.1.

Yeh, actually Ive just done a quote and my Insurance is going up next year even with 1 years no claims :S

Seems like theres little if any savings after 1 year :n:

^ Those discs are very good.

Passed my theory 1st time around just using those disks.

The hazard perception disk is very good practise as well. Gets your timing spot on as to when you should click.

yeah the hazard perception bit of it is the exact same as your actual test..without that i'd still be giving it a go.. :)

You'll be looking at 2k for any car really, give or take £300 the expensive side of £2k. (On your own policy).

Morgzc got a cheaper quote on a VTR than a 1.1 IIRC?

So many factors mate, just do a quote and see.

Any quotes Ive had on 1.1's have only just been cheaper than VTR's by about 50 quid a year. And most were around £2000. So you might be in the same boat as me depending where you live.

just keep training yourself to concentrate really hard all the time so you catch the hazard as early as possible.

Yup. Quinn quoted me 2370 on a 03 desire and 2240 on a 01 vtr (or something around those figures, can't remember lol)
Tried an 03 vtr after to see if it was the age but got the same thing.

ive just passed my theory last thursday, i used one of those learner discs with all tests and stuff on, i kept failing so i was really nervous going in for the actual thing
came out with 47 out of 50 for theory and 49 out of 75 for hazard perception

i clicked a few times each time i saw a hazard just to make sure i was in the point bracket

As much as i love cars, its really pointless to get a VTR for your first car, if you even manage to get a decent quote for it; just get a furio for a year or two and then get one.

i got quoted £2767 for a furio TPFT.

and i fort my first quote of £1360 on a 1.1 punto was bad. to be hounest that was a few years ago now.

have you looked into pass pluss? it nocks some off ur insurance the first year and most driving instrutors will do it you for £50 (well would when i pased).

also get ur mum or dad go with direct line and u get discount just becuase they have a policy aswell.

also ive found around the 8,000miles a year is the cheapest for sum
reason.
parked on drive is cheaper than parked in garage on them compare sites (nuts a iknow lol)
the main one is your job. word your job title differently and you could save £500.
this website tells you what other jobtitles u could get away with using instead of ur own and how much you will save.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance-job-picker/

here is the full quide with links to all the cheapest compare sites.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance

then when you have the cheapest quote print it off and ring through this list.

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80671.

takes a full day to do but will save you alot of £££

ur a fucking lunatic!!!!

fuck paying that for your first car!!

i was like 600 for my 1.1 and that was 3 years ago and before i had passed my test!

nearly 3 years on i can only just warrant payin 600 fully comp for the GTi, and even i thought that was expensive. i refused to pay for insurance on it for a year and a half! my mum insured it for me and i was able to drive it on my policy on my other car! mental!

I am currently paying £2500 fully comp a year for my VTR at 17 on my own policy :n:

Gotta say though, its worth it :D

Good luck to the OP! :y:
