Hi guys looking for some tips..
Okay so i got a letter through the post this morning from an alluminium extrusion firm saying they had jobs available and could i contact them to arrange an interview.
I hadnt applied there before but i send some information incase something came up, but i asked if i could have fridays off to attend college where im studying an engineering course which i have done 3 years now, and they said no... so i left it, so when i emailed them today asking for some information on the vacancies and they said that i could have fridays off and would work 32 hours a week monday to thursday till i finished my course then i would get 6 more hours to do on fridays
also they asked if i could go for an interview tommorow at 1pm so i accepted.
Does this sound as if its a open application or that its likely i would be taken on as they have already told me that i could have fridays off?
What sort of questions could they ask me? (im writin down questions and working on some responses)
Thanks
Shane.

Why do you want to work for us?
go on about them being a big company and one you can progress in etc, tell them you're interested in the industry and try and link a hobby or something you've done into the job role (for my virgin media job i start in September, i was talking about my interests in computers etc.)
Just try to look interested and dress smartly - I got one job purely because I was the only one who bothered to put on a shirt and tie!
Good Luck mate :)

Ive got that question mate.. but thanks for the response.. ive done 3 years at college and know a good amount on materials and weldability etc so i could link that to the alluminium side? Also done CAD and Lathe work.

Yeah the experience is gooood, it also shows that you're there 'cos you're interested as well, not just there for money.
Try and do some research into the company as well, learn a bit about them - common facts etc, boooring as, but helped at my interview as I piped up in a group interview telling the guy about the broadband speeds :P

have a firm handshake, first impression, lets them know you're confident.

Yeah my gf told me that lol..
My idea is.. firm handshake, smile, and say pleasure to meet you.
then say thank you for your time?

Yeah a good firm handshake, grip his hand really tightly, not that hard that it hurts but just so it's very uncomfortable, and look him dead in the eye and don't let go for a good bit, even when he tries to take his hand away. This will intimidate any boss into giving you a job
