Went in work today at normal time, soon as I got there the boss came to me and said. You might aswell get yourself off, and theres 2grand already on the way into your bank.. I was like whats goin on, he said we know longer able keep you on,. Sorry.

Should they not give me more notice than that, surely a week notice, just been around looking for another job and theres nothing, :(

On a serious note, depends how long you've been there mate, but at least they are giving you 2k, keep looking bud, I'm sure there must be something, you can't have been looking long yet if you only lost it today, chin up!

They should give you more notice! If they gave you 4 weeks notice then you had 4 weeks to line yourself up to find another job when you leave.

But they have given you £2k which is either 1 months wage or 2 months so kinda gives you your notice in money equivilant to weeks notice..

wtf!! should have given you proper warning mate about making you redundant.. is the 2k your pay. you should get your pay upto what yoou have worked + your redundancy money

I work for an plumbing company well did.. They gave me just over one months pay,
Which was kind of them but just the notice they gave me. As its big shock thinking everythings ok they suddenly im now jobless, but its only been one day so hope I can find one by next week.

Thats a bit harsh pal, but if i had time to look for a job with 2k supporting me i wouldnt be that angry.

They could have just let you go and given you nothing then you are stuck with expenses and no money.

I said yes, but didnt turn up! Rather lose 85 euros than someone take the piss out of me! I still havent had a job since, no luck anywhere.

I work for the jobcentre mate and there is plenty out there. Just depends on what your looking for and how much you want a job.

But also on a serious note, i got paid off on the 19th February because theres fuck all work.. Got £1700 from them, was my last weeks pay, plus a week holiday pay, leui money, and redundancy cheque for £525..

And the whole lot is well and truly gone, doesn't last ya long.. Ragin i couldnt find another job straight away as i would have income again plus that £1700 spare!

I'm meant to be gettin the job back though when work picks up, hopefully soon

But they kept me going from Xmas time til Feb 19th, and i only worked about 3-4 weeks from Xmas, the rest was just paid weeks off at basic 39 hours. So they kept me goin as long as they could i suppose. Can't wait to get back with them the money is good

That would last me 2 months, so plenty of time for another job.
