my headunit says this in specifications
Operating voltage (11 – 16V allowable)
: 14.4 V
And in the sticky threads it says that the gain shud be set to what ur headunit is, so if my head unit is 14.4 should i set my amp to this???

No mate thats the operating voltage what you need is the preout voltage. it will be between 1 and 6 v depending on quality of your hu.

No its the preout level/load during disc play. Which is 2000mV or 2V. Set the amp gain to 2V and have a listen if it distorts at full volume turn the gain down slightly untill it stops distorting.

no, dont just trust someone!
where he is right, and it SHOULD be ok to set it to that!
you need to check! you could get away with a lil more, or a lil less! its only a guidline!

Tonto does have a point you should get a second opinion most of the time but like i said if it distorts so the amp is clipping the signal then turn the gain down untill it distorts if it doesnt distort im guessing it would be ok to turn the gain up slightly? AS he said its only a guideline. Am i right in thinkin that tonto?
