dam cd player !!!

hey guys
i know this has been talk about time and time again on here but i just cant seem to get it to keep its memory,
and iv been over all the other posts
which say "swicted the red and yellow cables" and
iv been over the other post's that talk about the thick grey and thiner grey wires which has been done by the looks on it
i just want to know what im doing wrong or havnt done yet haha

i got the cd player in and powerd up
and fixed most the cables in the back,
for some reason the guy i hade the car off
hade cut all the wires before the conection block
e.g all the green,red,wires which iv found out now are speaker cables and white, blue wires which i havnt wired back up yet
but yea, sorry for not making much sense but
any help would be greatfull

I had this problem on my mates car, found out that the ignition volt was being drained by the head unit

find which is the live wire, and connect the red and yellow wire to that, (ac and ignition)

The only problem with this is the hu won't turn off with the engine, so dont forget to turn it off
