Hi iv'e seen on videos and at events were when you show off you audio with the engine off they can go on for hours because their battery is hooked up to some kind of inverter that is connected to the 230v main. If you can get hold of them where would you and how much? in that case what do you call them like a power generator or something. Cos as summer is coming up and you are cleaning your car at your house but want good music on but you are going to be a couple of hours, instead of turning your car off after 20mins run it constant but the car is still charged for when you want to drive.
Thanks

I maybe wasnt doing much good to my battery but i've ran my stereo for 2 or 3 hours on end numerous times without any problems the next time i went to start the car :geek:

To be honest mate an inverter to take any real power say 1kw and above would be about £300 quid. But what you would do is with some decent size cable just attach it to the battery ovbisouly make sure polarity is correct and then plug her in to whatever 230v power source is nearby. Ive seen them in maplins though. Have a look around mate but if its just whilst your cleaning the car a much cheaper option is an extension lead and a sterio. Not trying to be funny it just would be.

just run it till it goes flat and get jumps leads out. jump leads are a lot cheaper then an inverter

Doesnt do the battery any favours though and depending on your audio in the car as ive heard some amps start to clip signals when played at low voltage say 12.0 or less as most amps are rated to 14.4.v

Yeah i work for Maplin lol i could make something up there. A sterio and cable is what im doing now but want to appreahiate the sound of my car audio as i work lol. but if i put 4 awg cable to a 230v plug that would ment my battery wouldnt it cos you are pushing 230v into a 12v battery, hence an inverter is a step down form 230 to 12 but you right it would have to be like 1000w, which were i work is about £300 so back to squere one lol. Oh well was just a thought cos when you go to audio events you see cars parked up with a cable out of the bonnet to the mains. So that they can have endless demos lol and still drive away from the event :y:

Yeah i know what your saying a bout the events but its probably going to be people that are serious about audio so dont mind spending the money on it.

ive run the battery flat before, had the main lights on, inside lights on and the stereo going for over and hour.....lets just say some pushing was needed to get her started :)
live and learn.
