I thought you may do a Windmill... or that faggots Castle that you are mates with smileys/smiley17.gif smileys/homme.gif

You could always see if Ar' is up for letting you research the ins and outs of buildings which the prostitutes hang out in smileys/smiley17.gif

I need to find the time to take a pic of some buildings round my work place, but I need to be careful, as there are loads of Security around here and if they see you with a camera they come up to you and tell you not to take any photos, as it's seen as a terrorist threat. smileys/smiley3.gif

lol! I could remove that with some photoshopping, but I rarely ad or remove things with photoshop. Don't like that. It may sound strange but that pic isn't modified in photoshop at all, except for the border. smileys/smiley10.gif

there are loads of Security around here and if they see you with a camera they come up to you and tell you not to take any photos, as it's seen as a terrorist threat.

So true! When my bf (http://www.melee-online.co.uk) went to london on a photo-run he got followed inconspicuously by security all day, they kept asking him what he was up to - they thought that 'cos he had two massive SLR cameras round his neck he was a terrorist smileys/smiley5.gif

Great pics Scott, i prefer the second more 'geometric one.' Jim, i love your first one although it looks a teensy bit wonky to me? Maybe its just my eyes though.

I have my shot in mind, unless i can get a better one. When's the closing date for the comp by the way?

...and that's where you're wrong. Every compact camera and most consumer DSLR's edit the pics in the camera. Because of the way that sensors in digital camera's work, the pics need to be modified as otherwise the would look shite. So saying that yours are untouched is completely untrue. smileys/smiley2.gif

Some people with DSLR's (like myself but also most professionals) switch off the in camera editing (or take pics in RAW) and do the processing with photoshop. That way you're in complete control and you don't let the camera mess with the picture.

jungle jim, some of ya pics r amazing

thank you very much smileys/smiley17.gif

and what fred said about photoshop is right every camera makes hundreds of decissions to determine the output and so it is ineveratable that sometimes it doesnt get the levels or colours quite right, so photoshop is used to correct this

Whoa, its nearly the end of May!

Once again i've been so busy i nearly forgot about the competition....but fear not i've got my entry sorted!

A lot of people have been going for very 'modern' buildings, perspectives etc so i've picked a nice old building smileys/smiley14.gif /members/lozimurias/E1D68_Poland_2005_011_edit_small.jpg

Sorry its so tiny...i'll send in a bigger one for the competition! It's a selection of the towers in Wawel Castle in Krakow, Poland.

EDIT: - I've just realised no-one will be able to see my white border....will have to sort that out!

First I think your over exagerrating what a digital camera does in terms of 'adjusting' the photo when its taken. You make out as though it s a drastic change, where in actual fact its more something only the trained eye will pic up.

Second, you knew what I meant by 'Post Editing' and it doesnt include colour correction. I was talking about taking an image to a point where it would be impossible to capture the same result as a raw photo.

Third, if you ARE saying that photoshop editing is permitted even though there is a specific photoshop section to this forum, where is the skill judged? the quality of the taken image? or the use of photoshop tools? I would have said the skill of taking the image in the first place is far greater than knowing your way around a paint program (minus your color processing requirements! smileys/happy.gif)
