Just got my VTR 1.6 52plate.

all was good for the test drive, but now its mine i noticed a slight nock which wasnt much, but after like 7 miles the nocking finally stayed persistant.

the noise only comes when changing the gear, putting the clutch at biting point, and accelerating/decelerating.

Does this mean the 3 part clutch will need changing? just before i waste money at the garage on one really..

when the car is idle then you hear a slight constant whistle type engine noise (metal spinning or something)

Thanks in advance guys.

the metal spinning noise could be the clutch release bearing if it only does it while in neutral.

the nocking noise- i know its a daft question but it has got oil in the engine hasnt it? could also be the tappets need adjusting as i had that on my old vtr.

get it booked in a garage. :(

thanks for the reply! and well i just bought the car and noticed the plastic oil dip had snapped from maximum down... so i poured oil in and it did take up to 3litres to reach the maximum dip. and not reallyy took it out since then.

but the grinding noise comes when i put in gear and then hit it to biting point, accelerate in any gear ( only tried up to gear 3 so far due to not wanting to damage ) the noise goes when i put the clutch down...

so im guessign a 3 part clutch replacement? due to no point in replacing one bit i guess.
