oil on brake pads

Right guys, asper the title really, i was fiitng new front brake pads,and came to the drivers side, the CV boot had gone and there was oily gunk everywhere,did my best to keep my hands from goin on the pad but managed to get some oil on the pad. Now the car pulls to the left when braking. My question is will this wear off or will i need to get new pads ??

New pads mate. Once oil gets into the pads, its impossible to remove.

cheers fella, think ill get online and purchase some then and get the garage to fit them whilst they are tightening my handbrake and doin the CV gaitor

No its fine. Take the pad out. Sand the surface off. Its only grease. I had a boot exploded over mine and there fine.

because of the gradient you have on a brake pad the oil will seep into the pad making it useless you be better of putting your feet out the floor to stop flintstone style

Ideally you should have cleaned the CV grease away before putting new brake material anywhere near it ;)

If you've only recently done it then whip out the pads and get some brake cleaner and scrub the pad surface clean, then make sure the disc is also contamiment free.

If it's been a while, chances are the oils in the grease will have soaked into the pad rendering it useless. Still, give cleaning it a go anyway.

i spray my brakes with wd40 daily as it makes the pads last longer!

Personally, I'd just buy a new set of pads. They aren't that expensive compared to my own or someone else's life.

If you take a blow torch to the pads + disc and get them hot it will burn it off if just on the top but i wouldn't advise it on a car, not worth the risk. You'll need to clean the discs before re-fitting new pads btw.
