Basically, I'm going to get some kind of music system in my car, but I am clueless to whats what. I'm after a CD player that will play My iPod, CD R's and CD RW's, looks good, and will cost less than £80. My friend sent me a link and suggested this CD player:
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-deh-1100mpb_p-23622.htm
It suits the requirments I need, and is the right price, but then I found this CD player:
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-deh-1100mp-cd-mp3-car-radio_p-23620.htm
Which seems exactly the same (except for the display colour), for £15 less.
What is the difference?
Also, it may sond a stupid question, but would this:
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-car-audio-centre-3-5mm-jack_p-22863.htm
be all I need to connect my iPod to the CD player?
Also, I was looking for door speakers and found these for the front:
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-ts-g1301i_p-23156.htm
and for the back:
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-ts-g1001i_p-23154.htm
Are they any good?
Also if I installed all that, would it all work?
Thanks,
Jay

I would say thats a nice headunit for what you want bud, i like pioneer myself, And yes that cable is all you need to connect your ipod becasue that headunit has front auxilery. Your headunit is running 50w X 4 onboard amp peak power so about 35wrms X 4 and you want to put in front speakers running at 25wrms (2 of them) and back speakers running at 20wrms (2 of them) so thats 90watts of power it needs to run.
Your headunit should comfortably kick out 140watts rms so it would run those fine all round.
Only thing is it wont be anything special, it will sound nice and probably still quite clear at high volume but there not overly powerfull. If your just looking for a nice simple speaker system then thats fine i would say, but if you are looking for proper sound then i would suggest going down the sub and comps/6x9's all ampd.
If you really dont want a subwoofer then you could get a set of decent 6x9's and amp them for your bass, and amp a set of component speakers for you mid range and treble.
I would go down the sub route, get a nice punchy 12" sub and get the right amp for it, then get some compent speakers and amp them
Your choice bud, That may of helped you or it may of confused the hell out of you lol. I think most of what i wrote is correct lol, someone will correct me if its not

Thanks for the advice, I always thought speakers we're speakers.
I do eventually want some BIG noise, that sounds nice. DO I have to buy Pioneer everything, or can I mix and match? For now I have had to change the Head unit as they no longer sell the one I wanted, I've also purchased the cable.
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-deh-1200mp_p-25989.htm
Thats the CD player I've purchased.
How much should I look to pay for some decent front and back speakers? ALso any advice which ones, nothing overly expensive, but still good quality?
Also any advice on a sub and an amp, but how do I know what to get?

To get the best stuff you have to mix and match mate. Also huricane what do you expect from 13cm door spekers your not going to get bass from them. But on point get some good comps up front first id reccomend jbl if your on a budget. Amp them to get them sounding nice and then run some 10 cm coaxials of the HU in the back with a nice 12 inch sub and amp in the boot.

I don't know what "comps" are, How do I amp them? Also what are Coaxials? Is HU Head Unit?
Also why do people recomend a 12" sub over a 15" sub? Is bigger not better?

Right ok comps are components. They are preferred over a coaxial type speaker because the tweeter and woofer are seperate. Which are controlled by a crossover. A crossover takes all the music signals and sperates them by frequency sending low and mid range to the woofer cone and high notes to the tweeter. They are harder to wire especially if you are going to amp them. Best explained by this link look at the picture. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/jbl-gto508c.html
A coaxial speaker does not have a corssover the tweeter is built into the same speaker as the woofer. They are not as good as a component speaker but are good for some rear fill in a saxo hence suggesting them for the rear speakers. To amp them i have my amps in the boot so you run the neccessary cables for the amp which are power feed from the battery to the amp. Ground from amp to car chassis and remote from the HU which is headunit and rca cables from the preouts on the HU. Then run speaker cables to the crossovers input terminals from the amp under the carpet in the car through the front door via the iso block conecter and up to the crossover. Coaxials are just a straight swap for the standards. People reccomend a 12" sub as its a safe bet for most types of music. You can tailor a system to one specific kind of music but the same system may not play another genre as well. For example if you love your dubstep and drum n bass like me you would prefer 15" to get the really low deep long bass but a 15 would be poor for playing dance music as they are soo big they cant keep up with punchy bass. A 10 inch is the opposite really good for punch quite poor for deep tones. The box will determine sound aswell as a sealed box will give more punch where as a ported is favoured for SPL sound presure level (loudness) as you can move more air with a ported box. If you were going for sound quality you would want a sealed box with a 10 inch sub. If like i said you love dubstep and thats all you lsiten to and want it as loud as possible you want 15" subs in a ported box. So bigger isnt really better it depends on what music you like. If you let me know what you are after form your system id be more than happy to spec youa few things as would alot of other people on here. Also its a good idea to keep in your head that a GOOD system is 90% installation and only 10% equipment. For a good system you will need good quality cables a lot of sound deadning and the right box for the sub. Hope this has helped you out mate.

Thank you very much for the information, very much appreciated. Like I said I have no clue about anything to do with sub's amps speakers etc. but you seem to have cleared most things up.
I like many different types of music, so I'd assume a 12" is better as it will suit more of my music needs rather than a 15" sub?
From my system, I'm just after some good quality loud noise, that isn't going to set me back too much money, what would you recommend?
I already have my head unit on the way, if you require a spec for it to determine what would be suitable:
Max. Power Output MOSFET 50W x 4
Tuner AM, FM (EE Band), 24 pre-set stations

MP3, WMA, WAV compressed audio files on CD

Yeah your right right with going for the 12 mate. Good quality loud noise but on a budget for me would be jbl. Are you buying everything brand new? Depending on how loud you want it and how much you like your boot id say 2 12" jbl gt5 subs. In a ported box tuned to 35hz ish. Some nice comps upfront, for some decnt sq (sound quality) look at hertz or spl dyanmics. Id go for 13 cm unless your willing to buy doorpods or diy them from fibreglass. If you ned to no about doorpods do a search on here and there are some guides on how to. As you have only got 1 preout im not sure what that means for amping comps aswell as subs but someone may be able to clear that up.
So for subs JBL gt5 12" 1 or 2 thats up to you really. Some decent 13cm comps upfront either hertz or spl dyanmics. Unless you want 16.5cm comps in which case il spec you some diffrent ones. Glad i have helped you out mate. Its what this place is for really. If you need advice just start up a thread or PM me if you want.
