I bought a parcel shelf with 2 6x9's before and it says on the bottom of each 525 peak, 175 rms, 75 min input.
What amp would I need to power these? Also I want to get a sub too so would it be more sensible to buy a 4 channel amp?
Cheers guys!

If your going to get a sub id do away with teh 6 by 9s as they end up ruining the quality of the sub by cancelling out some of the bass mate. Almost everyone on here will agree.

So I might aswell just keep my 6x9's and forget the sub? I only bought them today so don't want to be doing away with them.

Yeah if you're gonna keep the 6x9's i wouldn't go for the sub. You still get a pretty good sound from amp'd 6x9's so should be ok. If you wanted a sub would be best you amp'd that and got some component door speakers.

Well its up to you which one you do away with mate but my personal preference would be to get the bass from the sub and the midrange from some comps up front. That way all the frequencys are covered and lower frequencys travel further but the high stuff needs to be close to you to hear the best sound.

Something to run them at 175 wrms. Set it up properly and it wont blwo the speakers. Do you know the ohm rating (impedance) of the speakers?

So you want something that produces around 200 watts rms at 2 ohms and il tell you how to wire them unless you already know mate. That would run them at 100 wrms at 2 ohms which isnt bad considering that any form of bass will be lost by movement in the parcel shelf. So id reccomend that amp.

how come only 200 watts when it can go up to 350 watts rms together?

focus on the rms values. you want one similar to your speaker rms values.
have a look on the sticky's at the top of the I.C.E section, there are a number of guides.
might help you make a decision.

That amp should run them fine mate giving them exactly 175 rms each. However be careful witht the amp gain as if you just set it to the loudest you will just blow and damage the speakers.

Pfff amp up 6x9's and front speakers to 4 channel amp (Fli FL900S) would do the job.... and get sub with built in amp (Vibe CBR10). Orr just wire the 4 speakers to the headunit it will sound fine, but it will sound BETTER overall with it being amp'd.. Am i right ?

2 channel amp will only power a sub.. or 6x9's.. personally wouldnt bother imo just creates aload of wire mess for what its worth. Just buy a sub with a built in amp, vibe subs are really good and come with a built in amp i would definitely recommend them will cost ya 200 quid.

Reccomending fli and vibe over alpine for audio is silly mate. NO offense you are right in what your saying. Yes front speakers amped would be ebtter aswell but he asked for an amp for the 6 by 9s which the amp that i linked to would power them very well.

Out of those 1 doesnt give you power ratings and the JVC one will power them ok but will never sound as good as the alpine one mate. Up to you though I just gave you an idea of what I would have bought.

I dont know what highend stuff alpine do... but everything 'alpine' at my local audio store is crap for quality and price. They still have 2 way speakers coming out.. nice.

Oh right. What audio do you run mate? Im running JBl everything at the moment because of lack of funds but they sound quite good. Personally i think that alpine amp would power them nice and not sound too bad but there are other amps avalible second hand for cheaper and they are better just gota shop around.

At the moment i got a basic cheapo system beacuse my car doesnt have an alarm, JVC headunit, sony x-plod front speakers, JBL 6x9's & a fusion 10" tube sub... it is cheap so it wouldnt really be worth the risk stealing and my area is abit pikeyish haha. But moving on it does sound quite good ill maybe upload a video to youtube or something soon
