changed ignition switch but wont start help

i have all wires plugged in earlier it started fine then went back to it and a light came on the dashboard with a key i changed the ignition switch today because my key was stuck inside last nite only thing iv changed is the switch can anyone give me an idea please

key symbol means the immobilzer has not been turned off. I suspect problem with pick up ring around the ignition barrel. I have heard they are delicate.
