I've got some saved at at the moment, but half of it is for a holiday with the missus and the other half is accounting for car parts...
Skint FTW!!!
(Should take up smoking and drinking would be far cheaper than cars and parts :wall:)

Alot will depend on your age, upto the age of 26 I had nada.
Now at the age of 36 saving is much more important.
When you get a mortgage everything changes

It would be an interesting question to see how much debt people have.
My guess is people would have low debt.

I try not to have any as much as possible. Saying that I have a couple of hundred quid on a credit card but pay big lumps of that off every month. Also have student loan, but tend not to count that as 'debt' as such.
I know people who have £20K+ of personal debt (not including mortgages)! Cant see the point really as they will be paying it off for years before they are back in the black
For me, I have £3.65 in my account. I have a giant stack of debt for a 18 year old though.

got just over 2k in the bank, but that is all going in 3 weeks when the bodyshop bill comes for my car :(
I did have about a grand... But a large part of that has been spent recently on a back axle and protective gear for the bike (ie. leather's, a new lid etc)
So it's been spent wisely. Still got some left but need to start saving it back up again.

I've got plenty saved up just waiting till I'm 25 to access it then go buy my Dads house for what he paid (so I'll be a mortgage free home owner) then use what's left and possibly buy another Civic or just stick it back in the bank.

Well my folks wanted to help me out at uni as they did for my sister....so they pay my rent. VERY lucky, but tbh, i know a lot of people who have the same deal...... the gf, flatmates, friends. not rare.
im not a rich boy or anything but they wanted to give me the best opportunity to go further.
Plus, im not a big spender and dont need many luxuries in life so its just added up over three years.

Ah i assumed you would be in first year, i should have same as you when i get to third year hopefully. Maybe even more if i get a decent placement year which would be awesome:D
Most people i know who got a placement in my course in london were getting around 26 k woo. Obviously before tax though and with the lack of jobs atm will be hard to find one!

didnt bother doing a placement, wish i had tbh though. very hard finding work without much experience.
i know a lot of people who tried and couldn't find anything though so might not always go to plan.
however, a close mate got one at rolls royce!! great opportunity

26k before tax as a student on a placement seems very high regardless of location. What course are you doing as Ive never seen anything like that before

Computer information systems, the people i knew had jobs shaddowing bank branch managers and also some on the more technical side with desgining MIS etc.
I went to a placement fair at my Uni just before christmas and there were some placements with intel which were paying over 26k, and some with barclays at around 23-24k, how ever they obviously want the students who are doing best and there probably isnt many places availible.
I would be happy with getting anything over 12k for my placement, but knowing there are better offers i am going to strive to get one!

i went travelling with my savings. well some of them still have about 20k tucked away in various bank accounts (no you cannot have the account details). could do with dipping into it but the exchange rate is screwed going this way atm so its pointless.
