boyfriend got in contact with a guy selling a mk2 furio for £450 with 95,000 miles mot till december and tax till august which was quite a bargin as it was in good nick
(carspotter says value is £1600 with 80.000 miles)
so he offers the guy full asking price for the car and asks when the car could be collected
the boyfriend explained to the guy he was going to set up temporary insurance for the car at the cost of £45 so wanted to confirm the guy would hold the car for him and the seller aggreed
so they aggreed that he could pick it up on tuesday the 4th so the boyfriend set up insurance till the friday and paid for it, he woke up on the tuesday to a message that said "sorry had a bit of an emergancy and need the car till friday"
the boyfriend works on fridays and says that he will need to phone in sick to work so that he does'nt have to spend another £45 re - insuring the car for a week and got a reply today saying
THANKS FOR THE INTEREST, SAXO SOLD
"interest" he was more than interested he spent £45 he may aswell have threw away on insurance and was prepared to travel 3hrs!!!

he found the car on facebook marketplace and the reason the guy was selling was he was getting a free buspass so no longer needed the car
also it was his mums car he insured to get up there i was going to drive it back covered on my policy thats why it was insured before we set off

Annoying but you can insure a car on day insurance about half an hour before you actually drive it with the RAC

Thats life for you - it is never fair. Then again, you dont need to know your saxos to be able to tell thats a real bargain - should of chewed the sellers arm off instantly.

Ohhh right sorry my bad
But i know how you feel, it happened to me going to look at my first golf R32, about 350 mile round trip only to find out the car was an unreported cat d on rear quarter, owner in the advert, emails and texts said it was a minter, clearly not, i was fuming
Lesson learned now though, i did find my perfect one though so it all plans out well in the end

why didnt you set the insurance up on the day of collection, either ask to use the sellers wifi, ring a friend who has all the relevant details or get a parent/friend to add it to their policy temporarily
trusting some random person selling a car is just stupid

he got his mum to add him to her policy on her car for a week so he could drive us both up and i would drive the saxo back

i mean adding the new car to an existing policy so you could just ring up the insurance company after you have paid the cash

the insurance that he paid for was not for the new car, it was for the car he was borrowing to go get the new car, he had to insure it before we left as we were supose to go on the tuesday and was leaving at 6am so the day before he got his mum to ring her insurance company and add him for 5 days as she wouldn't be able to ring them at 5 to 6 in the morning and add him
when we woke up to leave he has a message saying that there was an emergancy and couldnt collect the car till the friday

I won a 106 GTi on ebay once. It needed taxed so "couldnt be driven unless I taxed it". So I was prepared to do that, told the seller and about two hours later he texted me to say "now then mate Im sorry to say but Ive ran into the back of someone in the 106. You still interested, front end damage". I said yeah, he never got back to me and the car bizarrely appeared on autotrader 2weeks later for twice the price I was going to pay.

^^ what a plank, i've had 3 saxos offered to me that i liked, all 3 were time wasters :n: if surely if they dont want to sell then they shouldn't advertise it for sale :homme:
I am going to see a vts on friday, hopefully things go well but i won't get my hopes up any more.
tbh i'm glad the others fell through as this one is 10x better :D

Thats Rubbish!!! what was his excuse then?
moral of this story, get ya ass down there and insure it on the spot, as a seller will always give a car away to the person who comes with cash first..

i had a right one today, i went to view a car in reading (£20 in diesel) for £1400 did HPI etc and came back CAT C No vic check, so went there had a look about and it had had chassis legs cut and replaced bonnet was damaged out of line and did not latch, he said initially he bought it from PH and was HPI clear (bought with no damage) after my rant he said he bought it crashed, and was commiting a form of fraud decieving people (saying HPI clear when it was a catc) so i leave that well alone then let the people interested in the car know. and i get abusive text messages saying basically i am a fucking e-warrior, little wanker and acused me of not knowing anything about cars. when i said i have had 12 years working experience on cars and 5 years with saxo's the greatest comeback was "your just a wanker end of" and he's the one commiting fraud.

Good god, i've noticed its mainly young guys with saxos that are the worst. When i was looking for my other cars (8 non-saxos) i had no problems, yes there were a few lies like you get but never like that ^ :n:

The thing is we were going to pick it up asap but he told us that he was away for a week and won't be back till the day we agreed for pick up. Weird really as we would have paid a little extra if we knew there were more interest :wall:
