Possibly, there are genuine cases and reasons for benefits though, so it's not like we shouldn't have some sort of social security net. It's stopping people abusing it that needs to be sorted, no easy task, so people to resort to extreme methods I feel... Immigration is another thing that annoys me, not people coming to this country, fair play to them, they want to better their lives, although I wish the UK had stricter rules, and I don't agree with them coming here and getting everything for nothing. They need to contribute. But the ones who actually work all the hours God sends, I respect more than the fat British beer swilling chavs who moan about there being no work due to all the immigrants, when they never intended on working in the first place. I think sorting out those people should be as paramount as immigration...

Yeah, thing is though, if you're better off on benefits or working a minimum wage job, its interesting you mention it because I did some calculations earlier..

Basically (and this can all be waivered with the fact that "you shouldn't have a flat/house if you can't afford it, BUT, the government will give you one, so bare with me).

Imagine, hypothetically that you are on a housing waiting list, you are unemployed, you jump at the chance of a house or flat, now, if you're on your own you will receive a low rate of income support (obviously if you have kids there's a lot of other factors but anyway), on your own, now, you get your rent paid, and council tax paid, rent is say, £100 a week, for a one bed studio flat, council tax is £1.2k a year, with electricity, (no gas), and food (so not including water either), you need to be earning around a thousand a month to live. If you can do nothing and receive benefits, a lot of people would choose to do so. This equates to needing to earn around £8 an hour, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, a standard full time job, if you're uneducated, or an unskilled worker, that's a big ask. (this is £1280), as I said, £800 minimum a month JUST to live, that's no cigarettes, alcohol, before you've furnished your abode, any luxury, car, ANYTHING.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying it’s a trap, I think we need free housing, but if it's given out so freely, it doesn't encourage you to work if you can just claim income support and sit in your free flat. On minimum wage it's not gonna happen (as I said, begs the question should you have a flat or whatever). What I think the government should do, is introduce tax breaks, and help the low paid worker with bills, they're still working, and contributing, and that's brilliant, and it also means less money from the taxpayer, tax that of course, the working individual would be contributing too! I think this is a viable solution.

I would say that the parodox of the burka argument is that anti-muslim groups, of which the BNP is one, should champion the use of this garment. Simply because, any woman who chooses to wear it quite clearly underscores the difference in culture between Islam and the West. Surely, one of the last things that any far right group would want would be the real social integration of ethnic minorities. The burka clearly draws a firm line in the sand between cultures; something for them to feed off. On that basis, maybe they should campaign for the normalisation of the burka amongst all muslim women.

Not only that but women who wear the burka most definitely have some element of intrinsic inequality with men. They might "choose" to wear it or "accept" it just like women used to accept inequality in bygone years. You accept the burka and you also accept that a minority culture that exists within OUR society discriminates against women.

I can also say with full confidence that women who wear burkas are discriminated against purely because of their dress. On a very basic level, a huge number of people in the UK feel uncomfortable at dealing with a person for whom only their eyes are visible. Most people are not used to it, most people dislike it and some find it offensive and even intimidating. Thus, these people receive discrimination. I've seen it first hand.

Then we have the security issues that are just simply an accident or crime waiting to happen......

I said earlier there's barely a difference if you talk in the context of percentages between natives and migrants.

If you want to know who the biggest drain is on society (by %) you might find the following figures intertesting:

For people of working age (economically inactive):

Muslim Men - 31%
Muslim Women - 69%

Christian Men: 16%
Female: 24%.

So by percentage, the muslim community is the biggest drain by a huge margin.

Fair point about infringing on our own British culture, I completely agree with you the way you put it. Britain shouldn't be afraid to actually stick up for itself and say no, as it should still have its own identity. But where do we draw the line between actually preventing people from having their own culture traits to full blown letting them do what they want?

My feelings are simple really. Get EVERYONE who refuses to work into employment, and CUT benefits and make them extremely difficult to attain. Yet it feels like there is a shift towards berating muslims/foreigners in particular.

Its obvious that our current piss easy system of getting benefits allows too many people to take advantage, and the migrants who are seeing this are taking advantage, which which is not on.

Not all the migrants/muslim people are like that obviously and the majority would want to work.

By enforcing a much more stringent and efficient benefits system, it will weasel out the scroungers from abroad. Why else would they want to come over, if you were poor and from another country and you heard about a different country that was better off than yours that virtually gave you money for free...course you would. That is the mentality that these bogus migrants take which leads to the increased animosity towards them, as yeah, they do scrounge, and drain our economy.

We should implement a system like Australi. If you can do somehting to benefit Britain then you can enter if other requirements are met.

People on benefits English or other get them cut if they refuse training an get back to work schemes after say 6 months. They will soon find work.

The extra benefits release can go help single mothers, extra funds for NHS etc.

Illegal immigrants are immediately deported once discovered. None of this holding buildings etc as they clearly arent working.

I know a lot of foriegn people come here and do work and pay taxes and contribute to society while practicing their religion/beliefs in private or not forcing them on others or asking for things to be changed. These are the people I dont mind coming to our contry.

Its those who come over and dont work, live off benefits, or fiddle the system. I knew a Polish guy who didnt work, he lived with his family in a 5 bed house, there were 3 of them and he was driving in a brand new 3 series bmw.

That to me is wrong, also know of another Polish guy who works his ass off and pays his bills and is struggling to support his wife and baby because the benefits they get are less because he tries to conform to our countrys laws.

I think this highlights a problem with respect to businesses and compaines in the UK that try to exploit low wages though. If people can get more as as much through not working as they can working, then what's the point? Some employers just pay minimum wage (which isn't really enough realistically) and they know that some mug will take it because they need the work. My employer is exactly the same, a chartered accountancy firm, supposedly one of the best in the area, if not the biggest and best, but the wages they pay are shocking for what you would expect. I'm sick of people thinking I'm on good money, when I'm actually on minimum wage... I'll always work because that is how I am, but some days it really does not seem worth it.

I love the way these things always turn in to a Islam verses the UK type thing. Really any religion is welcome in the UK as we have freedom of religion and I think this is a great thing. To me the big problem is the religious groups that turn it in to the one religious vs the rest of use. Its these sorts of arguments that give the BNP such support. Every time I hear some one say some one should be able to do something just because of there religion I cringe.

Take the burka as already mentioned. If you wish to where one fine do so. But if any one does not want people to where them on there property I say that's fine too. Just like in my eyes its fine to say to Rastafarian sorry you cant smoke cannabis on my property. Or a airport can tell Christian they can not take large metal crosses bend a given point.
