Well me and mate are thinking of renting out a house/flat. Just wondering what costs would be involved as we're just trying to get an idea atm of what we need to expect. Anyone who's in a similar situation or done this would be helpful to hear from you :y:
Council tax starts at £90 a month
Gas and Electric - £30 a month in summer, £70 a month in winter.
Food - £50 a month
Thats about it really, unless you want things like broadband and sky etc..
Dont forget if youre renting a flat there maybe an additional service charge, check first.

best to let two rooms in a house, much more of a laugh and you only have to pay a smaller percentage
well the thieving cunts you rent it off will want some stupid admin fee. lol
Then it depends what comes with the rent. With my flat, I pay for rent, water bills, electricity bills and bills for communal areas, such as hall lighting, lift, cleaning etc.
Then if its a flat, if a fire alarm is set off falsley we are expected to pay for it or if there is any damage to the communal areas (lift and stairwell mainly) we are expected to pay for that too.
I suppose you will have council tax as well.
I've probably forgotten a few things.
Not a clue of how much each is though

I pay £325 a month rent split between me, the gf and her best mate, not bad because its a new and big flat close to the city.
£70 a month council tax
Bills are quarterly and come to £80 for gas and electric
food is around £40-50 a week
Then the other small stuff like broadband, tv licence, admin fee's for the estate agent...
its affordable though splitting it is the best way to go.

That's before furnishing it though, kitchen appliances, decorating, or any luxury like cigarettes, alcohol, running a car, if money is tight you have to be mindful you can't be frivolous and will have to make sacrifices, but it's freedom and independence versus getting everything done for you (and for a fraction of the cost :p).There's also stuff like washing powder, toilet roll etc.
Good Luck :y:.

you will need to think about the deposit 1st, then the 1st months rent, usually payable at the same time. If your going private depending on where you live £500 a month seems to be the min, so £1000 upfront, estate agent admin fees, £150ish, £100 per month for gas and lecky (min I think) £30 per month for water, £100 per month council tax and lastly but most importantly...TV licence £10 per month, cos you will be doing a lot more tv watching instead of going out partying and driving(starting to sound like me nan.lol).
If you havnt got at least £1000 in the bank, with wages going on top of that every month, to cover you in emergencies I wouldnt bother untill you have saved it up.
Im speaking from experience of having had a flat since I was 17 and never having any real money behind me. Every time a big bill came in or something more drastic like getting made redundant I was always up shit creek.
Take your time and try budgeting while you are at home to similar figure to these for a month and you will see its not that easy.

6 quid a week for 2 of you. must be fun eating at your place each week i think not. food if you want to eat healthy and well will cost money. and as for all food being the same from shops is rubbish.
as for rent, whoever mentioned the tv licence etc made a good point, noone really thinks about that.
also the length of lease should be considered. if its for 6 months and after 3 months one of decides to move out then whoever is left will have to pay the rest or find someone else.
rent itself may seem cheap but its everything else that adds up. council tax, water, gas, electricity, insurance, telephone, added onto everything else you already have to pay out each month.

There is 5 in our rented house including myself. We pay £300 each/monthly. That covers rent (£300) and all the other bills.
As for £6 for 2, I dread to think what you had eaten.
Spend about £25/week on food, pop and booze. Have a decent meal every night.

You see when I said I spend £50 a month on food, thats roughly about what my supermarket bills come to.
I work 5 days a week so thats dinner everyday not included in that budget, obviously theres the weekend takeaway that I havent factored in either.
Washing powder and toiletries always trip me up, cant believe price of them bloody liqui tab things!!

Lol at you lot thinking I ate crap....
You forget pasta, tuna etc cost pennies... I ate well considering the price
and I suppose it's personal preferance where your concerned buying food
some people will pay through the nose for something branded as healthy as it's expensive so you think you're doing right lol mugs tbh

do you have threesomes aswell because that sounds like heaven in a flat
I think most have been covered.
The only one that I think that hasn't been mentioned is the deposit.
Then it depends on how furnished the place is and what products you feel you need, like a new tv etc.
lol!!!

Dude I was shocked at the above bit too LOL!
We dont rent but this is the cost of everything "else" that will apply to a rented house:
Council tax - £120
Elec/Gas - £100
Water bill - £35
Shopping - £400
TV license - around £15
Broadband - £15
:flamed:
Should of stayed at home with my folks..

Me and the other half currently rent a 2 bed property,
before we moved in we had to pay:
Deposit of £875
1 month rent in advance £675
Administration fee £150
Total of £1700
So before u even move in your looking at parting with around £1500 if not more.
Then you may have to furnish it, and that soon adds up.
Bills:
Rent each month
Water supply
Waste water
Gas
Electric
Council Tax
Tv License
Food shopping
Then you got your more luxuries if you can afford them once the rest are paid.
Sky Tv
Broadband
ETC...
you can see why some people live with their rents til there 30!! LOL
