Personally I think he got alot of problems dropped on his lap by Tony Blair... But hey ho.
Also feel alot of people will wish they hadn't voted Tory in the next 2 years or so.

I hope you all realise that a prime minister has little say in what happens within the party...
he's pretty much just a figurehead for labour, regardless of who they have 'in charge' the policies will still be the same as will their approach to politics

...Then realised this this opens the door for a likely Liberal - Labour coalition. This made me unhappy.
Heard about this earlier :)

You're Scottish, you hate Conservatives. It is a birthright. Engraved at birth to hate any modern, forward party that doesn't let miners strike and unions run the Country :p.
...All in jest of course ;P.

He's been brought into parliament, gotten the blame for loads of Blair's mistakes, and for things out of his control, and been made a scape goat by the media...
and he just always looks so sad  bless him

The problem it posses now is that its confused the curent situation more.
Lib dem's were more than likely going to work alongside the Torries because Clegg refused to work with Brown. Alot of people think this would be terrible and we would end up with another election within 2 years.
Its a fact that Labour and Lib Dems have more policys that are similar so on paper it would make more sense for them to conjoin and try to run a decent and respectable government. The problem was, was that Clegg wouldnt work with Brown.
Brown stepping down has put a spanner in the works for the Torries because Clegg is now more likely to work with Labour.
I thought Brown was a douche until he stepped down, he stepped down to better the country.
Thats how I see in anyway.
3 or 4 members of his own party had called for him to resign so it was just a matter of time really...although it might have been done to show the lib dems how serious labour are to create a coalition government with them or as part of a deal with the lib dems. The tories are freaking out after this cause they know that there's a big chance that the lib dems will now join with labour...as djflipsaxo said, their policies are very similar so it would make the most sense for both parties. The tories have had to give into the lib dems about an electoral referendem...solely as a last ditch attempt to get the lib dems to join with them.

How was he an awesome chancellor? He failed in his position so many times, the billions of profit this country made and non of it was ever "saved for a rainy day" and now everythings down the shit pipe.. He's now got to fix the mistakes he made years back!

I think as a Chancellor, his lack of depth perception meant he couldn't see the recession coming...
Thankyou, I'm here all week.

you have to look back and see how the Tories crimpled the Scottish industries in the early 70's to late 80's. Then the way they made a quick buck "privitasing" the steel industry, gas industry, railways and some others... Are we better off from them doing this ? Hell no... Ask anyone from Sheffield or Motherwell If they lives have benefitted. I won't talk about the shipyards, linwood or a vast amount of coal miners the length and breadth of the United Kingdom that lost jobs.
Yes my family are in unions and have been for generations but if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have alot of perks we have now. Yes I can remember my dad going to the picketline to fight for better wages, working conditions (who doesn't want these ?) but I also remember the fact he didn't get paid for the time he was on the cobbles.
Alot of people who are on this site and start an arguement about how Labour fucked up ... Look at their age and then you realise they never really lived under a Tory government. Look back at the recession in the 90's and look at the one Labour steered us away from.
I standby my vote for Labour and my digust for the Conservative party. Be ready for bad times because they are a comming

So apart from what happened in the 70s & 80s are there any policies you particularly like that Labour have?
Bad times are coming whoever is in government.

I personally vote for the MP who is in my constituency rather than look at the bigger picture.... I spoke to three candidates who actually wanted my vote. Labour, Liberal Democrats and the SNP (personally would never vote for those clowns).
Migrants seeking front line public sector jobs, including as call centre workers and social workers, must pass an English language test.
totally agree with this, but wish they would go one step further and introduce the same style as the Aussies.
A promise to create one million more skilled jobs and 70,000 skilled apprenticeships, introduce a National Care Service and a Green Investment Bank and modernise the UK's infrastructure with high-speed rail and broadband access for all.
once again I feel we are lacking in British born doctors and nurses, the railway should have never been privatised (thanks Tories) we wouldn't have had this problem. Would also like to think that we could keep a hold of the skills that made Britain great ... Ship building. We built a bloody Comonwealth on it !!
A promise to increase paternity leave to four weeks.
have to agree with this as I personally feel I bonded quicker with my son than I did with my second ... Wasn't able to take the leave the second time
A pledge not to raise income tax rates.
I know the Tories will not promise this

Last time I checked most power stations are still run with coal burning.
Who said they strike, strike, strike ? some thing have to be fought for. I would agree with the statement after that but I was talking about workers fighting for their rights generations ago when it would take weeks or even months for ships to arrive in the ports then you still had to transport them.
Please don't talk about debt when we have been in debt since the bloody Napoleonic Wars ! What natural resources do Greece have ? We have Oil, Coal, Gas, prime land for agriculture
