How hard is it to remove and replace?

Just the previous owner has obviously been using rear wiper without a rubber wiper on it and the metal has scratched the glass (what a berk!). Saying that I'm probs a bigger berk for not noticing it, I thought it was just muck.

I'm going to just get a replacement from a breaker yard so any tips or advice would be appreciated. I'm thinking it might be tricky, especially as it has the heating elements in.

Cheers

Easier just to get a replacement tailgate from breakers. Window is bonded in

its pretty easy if you have a bit of paitence and a good craft knife..just cut into the bonding btween the glass and bootlid from the inside.start at the bottom and just work around it till its all cut then just trim it off.

i done a few before and they are pretty easy:y:

not really, we charge £40-ish for tailgates, can get cheaper though if you want to chance your arm on ebay, at £40 its cheaper then a new glass though

Would you be able to sort one out for me at that price?

I got a 2001 silver VTR. For p&p purposes, I live in newcastle upon tyne (NE6 4TX)

not in silver, last one sold earlier this week, wouldn't post one anyway unless you sort courier, they manage to break anything so not going to trust them with glass lol

£40 quid sounds right by the way, i got a replacement from a member on here for that and am finally fitting it at the weekend, i would happily give you my old boot lid for nothing so you could have the glass out off it, but its going to be in somerset, so the postage would be more than it is worth lol

Cheers for the offer mate, but yea, Somerset is about as far away as you can get from Newcastle, in the uk haha.

JAMZ - I think I know where you mean, was it from that breaker yard over the road from the industrial estate, ? If so, I was there at weekend looking for a PAS pump and new gasket cover and found niether. To be honest, there wasn't even a Saxo in sight, gutted!

No worries mate, will do

@JAMZ - Theres a good place over Newburn, Gordon Marshalls I think it's called. Last time I was there which was a few months ago, there had about 5 or 6 Saxo's in so might have another look at the weekend.

If you do go at the weekend and you see one, if you PM me, that would be much appreciated. I'm after one in silver for 2001 model. Cheers :y:
