Cars going into the body shop on the 31st for the whole passenger side respray, It will take about 3 maybe 4 days.

I have booked my car in for a small machine polish with MikeyW on the 11th of June just before FCS.

that leaves 7 days min, for the paint to harden.

Will that be long enough to apply wax/sealent? and i take it the fresh paint won't need polishing?

So basically is 7 days long enough for the paint to harden to apply products? excluding polish.

I wouldn't touch the paint for a good 4-6 weeks buddy to allow it to fully harden, is the side re-spray essential for FCS or can it wait until after?

my side respray was £200 for a rough price idea bud

i left mine for 6 weeks before touching it with anything other than a wash mitt!

Hmmmm.. Yeah, the only reason i'm respraying is for FCS! else i would of left it. I can still wash/detail everywhere else yeah? Will a quick powerwash do any damage? something like meter away? just to wash off any dust?

And btw it's costing £300 for the side and rear spoiler, sounds cheap but i know the guy so got a few bob knocked off.

I would say just a gentle rinse with an open end hose, wouldn't want to potentially damage the side. Other than that you can go mental on the rest of the car!

roughly 4-6 weeks as said above you should not put any products on it

Tbh James I wasn't planning on touching the re-sprayed side lol give it a light wash and dry, possibly quick spray with RMT but other than that it should be pretty clean anyways ;)

a good 3-5 weaks should be long enough but saying that at college we bake the vehicle leave it over night and them use cutting compound polish ect .. every good bodyshop will polish the car to remove orange peel and dirt nibs before the car is returned to the owner so if you think about it that way you should be fine but it depends on the quality of the body shop ..every body shop should do it .. best thing to do is ask what there process is and then go from there ..

depends how good the painter is though, shouldn't need orange peel removing or dirt nips removing

Don't have a clue, It is baked on, And he's a well represented sprayer, theres better, but he's good.

can react with the paint, can also stop it from drying/hardening properly

I did this once, but this was after painting it myself not a bodyshop spray.

The lacquer went hazy colour overtime on top of the paint and gave a 'faded look', either this was left to dry properly or the lacquer did not respond well to the paint.

the bloke who sprayed my car said it's fine to machine polish, glaze, wax, seal straight away. i didnt listen to him lol

if its baked its ok to wet flat and machine polish but thats it for 4-6 weeks

Yeah wouldnt touch it with a polish ,unless its synthetic free . The reason is because the oils etc in the polish cause sink holes in your fresh new paint - its not common really if the job was done well and baked but still wouldnt polish for a few weeks just to be safe .
