Have been looking around for a thread that can answer my problem but cant find one. sorry if ive missed it somewhere.

got a 1.4 furio. when im giving it some theres no problem but as soon as i stop and the engine is on idle it starts rattling like mad! really annoying. sounds like its coming from the mid section of exhaust.

any help will b appreciated
thanks

Check that all the clamps are securely fastened on the exhaust that may be causing the rattle. Some stiffer exhaust rubbers may help. Or it could be the centre section rattling against the heat shield. Theres a few possibilities.

Heat shield and rubbers as abouve, get some powerflex hangers and get the heat shield put back in place if its slightly loose.

If none of the above it could be something in your cat has come loose (if its the early saxo's with it on the centre section)?????????

My cat has started rattling and it too is only between 1-2000 rpm.I know its the cat as i got a piece of wood and held it against the outer cage of the cat and the rattle stops;)

I have just received a front to back pipe from Sparco-tom with no cat or silencer so i'm gonna fit that this weekend:y:

id say personally as from a previous thread by someone else too, that it would be that spring bolts from the bottom of the manifold.

theres a bolt that goes through the bottom of manifold and has a spring and washer then a nut on the other end which attatches to the centre pipe/cat depending on the year of car. Quite often if this isnt reasonably tight it will cause a rattle as the spring is vibrating between the two plates.

hope this helps. and is a 5min fix.
