im hoping someone could tell me what the problem is.

when i put on the gas and loose it right off i hear a very annoying squeek (no matter how far i rev it) just as soon as i loose off the gas and the car begins to slow down.

it seems to be coming from the front of the car.
i dont think it's the suspension because it doesn't do it when i go over speed bumps.

also, it only does it when im in a gear, even worse in 2nd.

any help is much appreciated.

also i noticed a oil leak from the sump :S if thats any help

Could well be your exhaust flange mate, Squeeks in when you push down on the accelerator... and squeeks out when you release the pedal. If its like mine aswell it will be intermittent. Meaning it usually f**ks off when you get someone to have a look for you !

Its bloody annoying is what it is, i have this myself and the amount of people that have asked about it on here is crazy, it seems to come up a lot... I think i will be a flange specialist soon lol.

Its basically just the joint at the front of the exhaust by the downpipe If im right in saying. When the exhaust flexes it makes the creek. Correct me if im wrong people.. Im just going on what ive experienced with my car.

So do i,but it down to the gearbox mount, but looks like i could be wrong then, only happens when the engine is flexed back and forth.

Right... me n gazer had a look at my exhaust the other day and now were not even sure if it is the cause of the problem... Its a very weird metal on metal creaky noise that i believe needs the car to be jacked up and running to find it. The thing is, it only happens when the cars under stress. i.e as you lift clutch and pull off, it does it.... then when you are in first and tap and release the accelerator it does it then too.. Same in 2nd and 3rd, Its like when the car jaults. After about ten - fifteen minutes it goes away. A lot of people seem to be having this problem and ive just about had enough of it now i dont know what to do.

I know what you mean mate,it can be very annoying, but had mine on the axle stands the other day,and put it first gear, and rocked the wheel back and forth, and definately coming from either gearbox mount or the zorst flange, and it is as you say only when the engine is moved backwards and forwards.Anyone up for a squeak meet.LOL

I just dont know what to do...dont know what the best way of finding out what it is, is... I suppose ill be back down ollies garage get him to lift it up on the forks and ill have to say look, it needs to be running to find it ... I greased my exhaust flange n that didnt do fuck all. lol

You really think it could be gearbox mounts ?

Looks that way bud,but then again if you have used normal white grease it will only melt with the heat anyway, need to use black stuff.

Thats what my mechanic told me... plusthe springs on my flange are done up tight with No play in them what so ever... so i think thats the cause of it .. mechanics going to strip the flange down for me tomorrow.

OK so in a Nutshell, My squeek is still there, He says my flange is proper worn and to totally fix it properly, id need a new Down pipe.. ( cause thats slightly blowing anyway) which means a new cat aswell ( IIRC on the mk2's) and also id need to find a nice Centre section.. and chop the end off (the bit that attaches to the Downpipe) and then weld that to my centre section... and get some new bolts on my Flange... So basically that would make both sides of the flange new.... Not rotten and should stop the creaking.

He rekons its making the noise, cause its rusty, and it is rusty TBF.... I looked underneath and im not surprised its squeeking... My Stainless steel Centre cection looks new, Then you get to the Flange where the springs are, and its brown and flaky and this is the same for the downpipe side of the flange, Rusty there too.... Its one of those annoying little problems that could actually be expensive to fix.

So when i get some dough im going to do it, New cat n downpipe, Then seek out the end from a standard centre section. Chop it off, Chop the rusty bit off my car, Re weld the new bit onto my stainless steel Centre section. Then re connect that to my New downpipe...... that should (Theoretically) Remove the rust, Remove the Sqeek, remove my nightmares lol.

hes not actually saying to me oh u need this n that etc. So i dont think he is, Hes only about 24 Mercedez Benz Certified technician and hes a mate, genuine kid like, Its not like hes conning me into buying shit. What hes basically saying is that cause my flange is so rotten... Apart from gettin a new join on the Zorst to down pipe, He doesnt think anything else will fix the creak....

But yeah please let us know how u get on cause its pissing me off this car... He rekons its a really solid car but its annoying when people tell you your cars a solid example, Yet it creaks like a fucking broken floor board and sounds like a heap of shit...

Just an update on this,i sorted mine out the other day by releasing the tension off the exhaust flange springs, and caked em with copper grease, been ok for a few days now:y:.I did inform carlvtr of this, but dont know if hes managed to sort it yet,i know he was quite pissed off about it.

if you've had a supersprint centre section put it, u need a washer which sits inbetween the centre pipe and manifold i had this problem
