Hey,

Just bought a Sony CDX-GT620U for £80, Bargain!! :)

Just needs some small work done on it to get it looking tip top.

Its got light scratches on the face of it, what would people recommend to remove them? Ive read that brasso will work on it, but id like some other opinions first.

Also, on the back of it there is a remote input, its a 3.5mm jack, blue colour. What is this for?

Also, in the manual it says about the antenna connection, if the antenna is an ISO then it will need an adapter first to plug the ISO into and then from that into the HU. What type does the saxo have?

One last thing :P there's 3 pre-outs on the back, sub, front and rear. Would I need a separate amp for the front and rear ones and plug RCA cables into the pre-outs into the amp and then plug the cables for front + rear speakers into the amp? Or is there a simpler way?

Thanks if anyone can help :)

you can run the speakers straight from the HU (will just wire straight in, chances are you need a sony to ISO adaptor if it doesn't already have one). but, if you're running some mad speakers and fancy it being louder and clearer, then yes, you can amp up all the speakers!

I just run the front and rear speakers from the head unit using existing cables. Not much point amping them unless they are decent speakers. I just got cheaper alpine one from halfrauds.

Use the sub pre-outs to an amp for your sub if your gonna have one.

The blue 3.5mm jack could be for cars with steering controls.

Cant remember what aerial type the saxo has but if you need the adpator it will look like THIS (http://www.deals-on-ice.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=145).

Thanks :) will only be cheap ish FLI co-axials for the fronts, and 6x9's in the back .

Thanks, dont need the use the 3.5mm remote input then I shouldn't think, I thought it might have been to power the radio off automatically or something. The sub will go into the sub pre-out and then from their into the amp :)

Thanks for the link to the adapter :)

The head unit uses two different power cables one always live and one switches on with the ignition, thats how it knows when to turn on and off and save your settings.

For a sub you need to run a power cable from the + side on the battery, remote wire from the head unit (usually blue) if not labelled, and an RCA cable.

So going into the amp you will have:
12v from battery,
remote from head unit (usually blue if not labelled),
RCA cables (plugs into the pre-outs) and
Earth cable from the amp to the bolts on the rear seat or other place on the chassis.

The sub then goes to the + and - on the amp.
