Hi guys, kind of new to this... just a few questions
heres what i currently do...
1) pre wash with hose and microfibre mit to get all the grot and grime off
2) one bucket wash with microfibre mit and turtlewax nano tech stuff
3) dry with chamis
ive read the guides that are stickied and also on CYC but im still unsure, heres what i think i should be doing
1) pre wash with some snow foam stuff? (can i buy a an attachment for a hose and not a jet wash?)
2) wash with 2 bucket method (is the nano tech stuff okay?) and a mit (is a wool mit better than microfibre?)
3) never clayed before but plan on doing with this kit LINK (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_25 3057_langId_-1_categoryId_165527#dtab) (is this okay for beginners? does is come after wash?)
4) polish after clay? (what polish to use?)
5) wax? (whats the difference between polish and wax? what wax to use?)
6) CYC says maintain? whats this about? i wash it every week?
be nice please, new to this...
also, when polishing do i need to mask off the black trim to avoid getting it discolours? can i use normal masking tape?
any help from you gurus appreciated :)

what would you recommend over nano tech?
why is wool better?
do i need to wash-clay-wash-polish or wash-clay-polish?
what polish would you recommend for a white car?
what wax would you recommend?
EDIT: are chamois okay ok to use?

wash then rinse off clay then wash again dry then polish seal then wax
Never used Nano Tech, i've used Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild and it seems good, as does Sour Apple. Wool mit's are usually advised :y:
You should: rinse, wash, clay, wash, rinse, polish, pre-wax, seal, wax ideally.
You don't have to pre-wax and seal but it will help the wax 'cling' to the bodywork rather than any contaminant's and oil getting in the way.
Personally i'd say anthing from the Dodo Juice guy's is good... If you'd rather just test it out first but a Panel Pot for £6 from CYC.
Wash once a week and go over with a QD... I'd say use Red Mist, i love it :)
Unless you're machine polishing, their's no need to mask the plastic's out, just be careful not to catch them and take your time.
Oh, and don't use a Chamois... Drying Towel ftw :y:

Red Mist isn't a QD!!!
Red Mist isn't a QD!!!
No, it's not... but it works well after a wash, help's keep beading and give's the paint a bit more shine.
Although, may i learn from you and copy and paste with

Lol, i was just this second reading that! Im a little confused now though, is Red Mist a QD or a sealant? If not which is a good sealant to use?

By rinse, i mean hose down... Ideally the first should be a snow foam... but as you say you haven't got a jetwash. I'd say use the hose until you get snow foam but be careful in how you use it...
A hose should never be sprayed directly at paintwork, you should do it at an angle... Their's a guide on CYC somewhere, i'll try and find you the link.
As for Polish, i like Chemical Guy's All in One... Some people say Poorboy's SSR, but i personally think it's a very hard polish to use by hand.
Pre-wax, i've used Dodo Lime Prime Lite but never anything else so far :y:
Sealent... Chemical Guy's Wet Mirror Sealent... Great to work with, smells fooking lovely and the first time i used it i had a massive grin :D
Wax, like i say i like Dodo Juice stuff... Looking at your avatar your car is white, so Diamond White or Light Fantastic should be good to use :)

It's a spray sealant, and it's an amazing sealant at that IMO. Easy to apply, easy to buff off, just spray on and wipe off. It dries real quick, but you can get the tropical version which stays wet for a little while longer. But it can also be used as quick detailer, which it's also awesome for.
Guide i was talking about here (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27)

Sorry to go off topic and jack... answer in your own time, but why is beading so necessary to maintain? After polishing my car it beads beautifully, but the dust just sticks to the bubbles and once it dries it leaves my car looking like a leopard!

Beading's more nice to see imo... I'm unsure as to whether there are any advantage's to it other than looking damn kewl haha (sure some can give an answer for us there).
A simple polish doesn't give the protection that the extra sealent and wax can.
