Right. I am very very close to my uncle, as he is the only male in my whole family bar me. Yesterday he i got a phone call saying hes been rushed into hospital... So i went to see him and he's had to have scans in his brain and chest.
Today my uncle was diagnosed with Brain cancer... He's only 39 years old... He loves cars! He has a modded subru which he has spent alot of money on.
The Doctors haven't been very clear with me at the moment, so i'm not sure what the possibilties are? the cancer is only in his brain, but it's pretty small (grade 1) ... I just want to know that facts. I obviously dont want him to die! he's one of my best mates.
I just want to know if people on Sax-p have known anyone with brain or any type of cancer, that have flown through it and are perfectly fine.
Please no people being negative, just want help. Most definitly having a few drinks tonight

Dont stress about it too much mate, leave it to the hospital and it will be okay. Hope your uncle gets better soon :y:

I known someone's mother who had cancer, diagnosed 3 years ago. It was bowel cancer. She had to have a caffita fitted and 2 bouts in hospital but she has pulled through and is fine. The cancer may return but will be given the all-clear in two years if everything goes ok.
Hopefully if they caught it earlier enough they will be-able to operate and he will be fine. I hope he will be anyway.

My Grandad had stomach cancer, and I am really close to him as well.
Luckily he managed to pull through, but unfortunately he lost some of his stomach.
Took about two years for him to get better, as he got MRSA when he was in hospital, but unfortunately he had a stroke a few months after he was given the all clear, and when he recovered from that his knees gave way, and he had to have them replaced with metal.

He is still going strong though, and is always helping me tinker with my car. I went round to see him and my gran the other day and he was up a ladder cleaning the guttering. It was his 85th birthday in march. Eight years on from when he was first told he had cancer.

Firstly sorry to hear this.

My friends mum has recently passed away from cancer. She fought it for a good year. They thought they had cured it but it returned and found it had spread.

Hopefully your uncle has been caught early and they can sort it out. Try speaking with the doctor and just ask him to clarify a few things which are troubling you.

My mum had it, being blunt its not nice asyou can imagine, even if he gets through it he wont ever be the same as you can imagine to remove the tumor some of the brain will be removed too so the person is pretty alterd after the op. Just support him and help him in anyway you can. hope he gets through it bud

Cancer is very treatable nowadays, more so if caught early.

Hope he gets better quickly:y:

Right, thanks everyone for support and im glad to hear most of your good stories, and sorry to others who werent so lucky. The cancer has been caught very quickly because he noticed side effects straight away... I phoned my boss and he wont let me have tomorrow off to spend time with my uncle, but i'm not gunna go into work anyway because i wont be able to concerntrate, and as i'm a chef, it will be dangerous to go into work without concerntration... i'll support him through it.. I'm in swansea at the moment, but he'll have to be tranfered to cardiff so i'll be driving 50 miles every other day by the looks of things! No-one else in my family have bothered so i got to support him 10 times harder. Thanks again!

my gdad had triple heart bypass then had cancer got told he had a few months was her for 10 years more depends on the strength of the person and how willing they are to fight it

The more support he has the stronger he will be and the more chance he will have of fighting it!

the first good thing is he was healthy enough int he first place to notice the symptoms, which shows he was is good health and people in good health aswell as catching it early have a very good chance of surviving!

but remember even if he pulls through (which he probably will!!!!) itll be a loooong road to recovery but i think hes very lucky having you there to support him!

All the best!

Very Very happy :)
Right on Tuesday, my Uncle got transffered from Swansea to Cardiff, and they opperated on his brain on Wednesday and removed the cancer... Thursday he had another scan, and everything seems to be okay! He was left out today! What a horrible week though, Driven to cardiff and back every day since tuesday, till today! which is an hour there and back every day, but i'm glad he's out and feeling back to normal, and i cant believe how fast the hospitals worked!

*He had

But, that is not cancer, and they didn't know he had it. Just within 1 day, the family thought he just had a bad cold, then next thing he was rushed to hospital and he passed away. No build up or anything, was completely out of the blue. Was a shock to everyone. rip.
