Just got in my car tonight, turned lights on and they look duller. Now heres the strange bit, the rev counter (but only the red line) is fine, but the rest is all duller than normal. I had to rub my eyes and turn it on and off cos i was a bit like WTF.

The dials are all dimmer then normal, however indicators such as full beams, fogs, fuel etc are fine

Any ideas whats happened here?

Sure you havent accidently dimmed them?

I think you press and hold 1 of the dials in in the instrument cluster when headlights are on and that will dim/undim them.

Mk1 by any chance?

Check your brightness control first. Analogue dials have a wheel under the steering wheel, digital dials use the right hand button (I think) on the dash display. With the sidelights on, keep pressing the button to adjust them.

The bulbs in the mk1 dash can come loose, corrode, oxidise, etc. which can make some of them go dim, and others to stay bright. This is a dials out jobby really. Or a persuasive tap on top of the dashboard.....

Yeah this is a MK1 :) haha funny you say tap on top, if i hit the top of the dashboard some actually go OUT lol and then i hit it again and comes back on :L

I've tried changing the brightness control etc and no luck. :(
