as the title says...can you CLEAN too much?
ive had the R6 for a month now!
and yes im still loving every minute of it ;)
but to the point, i clean it everyday! sometimes even twice if i have nothing else to do! and as i dont clean the sax, just keep painting it! id like to start making the bike shine!
even if its just a rinse with a hose / jet wash / bucket and sponge, just to get general shit off it, such as bugs and dirt from the building work in my street!
now im not a detailing whore nor do i know my stuff, you say to me dodo juice, i say there extinct right?...
but would cleaning it to more than a rinse, such as muc-off stuff, shampoo, polish too often cause any damage or dull it in anyway?

:homme: oh ads, behave!
and its not so much for others to notice, but for myself taking pride in it.
i clean my tools after i use them everyday too! and if a work mate uses them and gets them dirty then :wall::wall: lol.
look after your possessions and they will look after you imo!

no no no it's fine to take pride in your car/motorbike etc, I do, I just do it once a month, or if I know if the weather is particularly good for the week ahead.
but no wayyyyyyy am I doing it daily or weekly, I have things to do and as I say, at the end of the day no one really notices how clean a car is other than the person who has cleaned it.

this is true, but my reasons for being so anti-clean is because of such a statement. A good reflection bares no indication of the mechanical working, so is this instance, look after your possessions (cleaning), doesn't mean, the brakes have been checked or the engine oil topped up.
Yet for some reason people wet themselves with sexual excitement when they see a clean saxo on here and half the time the owners have left the mechanics to rot to pieces or there is chassis rust all over the place.

i completely agree with what your saying.
im not the one to get moist over a clean vehicle, just keeping it in tip top condition, as much as i can, appearance and mechanical.
as the R6 is only 5 weeks old! id like to think that there is nothing mechanically wrong with it! and as for the saxo, being matte black it may look like a shed, but mechanically its sound! if it ever needs anything or a part replacing, i get it sorted asap!

i have rust underneath.. dont alot of saxos nowadays? and also alot of other ten year old cars have.. doesnt mean they cant look nice and run well mines fine other than some rust underneath. infact i quite often check engine oil water so on before i give the car a wash... just dont see how rust underneath means it should be unliked by others?

It would benefit from a basic wax and then top up every 7-10 days then it would make washing process easier.

dude muc off is an acid based solution. it will deffinately eventually dull the paintwork.
go halfords and get some auto glymm shampoo and micro fibre's get some maguires carnuba wax and you'll be good as new mate! also auto glymm bug and tar remover.
much safer than muc off
