Halfords sell fibreglasssing kits with everything you need in.

To make a bootbuild, you need to make a template of the shape you require, usually out of a wooden frame with fabric streched over, then paint the resin onto it. Then build up with layers of fibreglass matting soaked in resin until its strong enough. Then smooth with filler and sand and paint.

i wouldn't get it from halfords, get it off ebay

make a wooden frame, stretch over a fleece or old t shirt and coat the resin on, wait til it drys and do the same again and then you can smooth it with filler

you could use MDF and flock it or wrap it in some material.

Like it has been said try ebay, will work out alot cheaper than buying halfrauds kits. Iirc you only get half sq metre of matting with those kits.

These two places might be worth a looks as well

I would maybe suggest using a polyester resin and also getting a couple metres of fibreglass tissue to use as a final layer once your sure your boot build will be strong enough, gives a nicer finish to it and will save a little on sanding

Any boatbuilding yard or supplier will have fibreglass kits very cheap, but looks like Corby is a bit away from the sea

Sounds like it takes some level of skill I'm missing lol,
how long does it take on average to do a boot build?

Youll be fine mate, can be quite messy and time consuming but youll get there in the end. As for timescale to do a boot build it will all depend on the complexity of your design, id say it will be the smoothing of the bodyfiller that will take the longest.

Should try searching on youtube for help on making a fibreglass boot build id expect theres some one there(has videos of everything else lol) will let you get an idea in your head of what you have got to do.
