Hi guys, bit of a weird one this, I want to check whether I actually have remote central locking or not...

I've had the car for over 18 months now (5 door saxo sx), it came with the remote central locking key fob. I thought great, it comes with remote locking. But the key fob didn't work, so I changed the battery... still didn't work...

Confused I did a bit of research and I think I remember (this may be totally wrong) something about the remote locking unit being locate above the interior light? Well I couldn't ever see anything up there. I havn't done any more looking into it since then but I'd like to get it sorted once and for all.

So can someone please explain how I can tell whether I have it or not? I just can't see why I'd be supplied with the key fob if the car doesn't have it.

Cheers

Hi,

Did you reinitialise the fob once you changed the battery? See here: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228926

Changing the remote control battery

Pop open the case to the keyfob to gain access to the battery: CR 1620 (3V) button cell and replace the battery.

The remote control must be reinitialised after changing the battery. To do this, use the key to unlock the doors and within 30 seconds press button A [LOCK] on the remote control twice.

Thanks for your reply, I think I did re-initialise it when I replaced the battery, but it was so long ago so I'll try it again. Which one is the "A [LOCK]" button as I have two buttons, one is bigger with the chevrons on, the other is smaller and blank (I don't know if anything on the smaller one has worn away)?

Also, is there anything physical I could look for to confirm I actually do have the remote locking?

Cheers

If you take the door cards off and look underneath the door pins you should see a plastic box, that is the lock actuator
