Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a set of 16" Team Dynamics 1.2's the only slight problem is they have 195/45/16 tyres on them. I want to lower my car 50mm at the front and 55mm at the back. Would that be a problem with 45 profile tyres? Would it rub at all? Any feedback would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Usually saxo's run 195/40/16 tyres with 16" wheels to compensate for the larger size. You may experience rubbing on the rear or when on full lock but this isnt definate.

Cheers mate, I know the recommended tyre profile for 16" alloys is 40 but need to know wether 45 would be a huge problem.

honestly pal, i still reckon your going to have rubbing, i have the dreaded 45 profile tyre on mine 16s, but im down 35mm, and when me and the gf went to oxford, it was me, her and 3 suitcases, and the car still rubbed now and again, but you may prove me wrong :y:

but what i will say, now im down 35mm, i dont have any rubbing on full lock, only the rear rubs, and its rare unless the boot is full

Cheers mate, maybe it's not a good idea to get them with 45 profile tyres then. It will most likely rub too much. :(

mines 195/40/16's at front and 45 profile at rear and its lowered 50mm, taken out the arch liners, and secured the water bottle further out the way and i get no rubbing

Thanks for the reply mate. I probably wont get them because it would cost too much to get 40 profile tyres so theres not much point!

theres a guy on here, thats got his down on 40s, no arch mods, and he said he gets rubbing on half lock and if anyones in the back, i wouldn't personally go lower than 40mm on 40 profile tyres with 16s tbh pal, hope it helps

Unless your always carrying 'extra weight' then id doubt you will see much rubbing. It isnt hard to take out arch lining so you should get the wheels if you really want them.

Yeah, I do want them but I dont want it rubbing and causing problems.
