By 17 I'm guessing thats your age?
If so then thats probably the reason why your insurance is so expensive. It really is annoying but there's nothing you can really do, insurance companies are complete arses when it comes to young guys trying to get insurance, my first car was a 1.2 punto, only 6 years old, when i was 19, cost me £2,200 to buy it and cheapest insurance I could get was £1,900 odd for third party fire and theft, was only 4 years ago

strange how different insurance companies work...when i took out insurance on my first mango, it was actually cheaper than the clio it was replacing.....
Clio was 1.2, R reg, no central locking, no power steering, no sunroof, no electric windows, not even a rev gauge, standard apart from 15" alloys,
Yet the Saxo was a 1.4, V reg, central locking, power steering, sunroof, lowered, induction kit, backbox, vts alloys, all declared and was cheaper to insure...cant work that one out lol

Unfortunately it does, Green cars can be expensive to insure, as can black cars, its really stupid when you think about it.

mango was a 'limited edition colour' or something, so insurance companies see it as more desirable (why anyone would steal a bright mango car and hope not to be noticed is beyond me! lol) and some westcoasts come up with 'special edition' next to them when you type the reg, again putting up insurance, or so im told
drives me crazy, my vtrs cheaper to insure with the same company!!

Yeah I'm also with Quinn and have been since my first car.
Worth giving them a try as I've heard a few people say they're pretty good with younger drivers too

The colour of the car affects the premium? That's just ludicrous, they're after every penny they can get..

Thats strange that is.... about 2 months before my renewal date I had a letter from Quinn saying that "due to circumstances we are no longer available to offer you an insurance renweal" yada yada yada....then a month later another letter comes through saying "we can now offer insurance" etc etc and I'm currently covered but in the blurb it said the company name was "Quinn-direct (administration" or summat like that.
Was a bit worried as to whether if they went under what would happen to my policy but phoned them up and they said i'd still be covered, so its strange for them to turn down cover yet still allow me to have cover? :s
