Bought a VTR but found that the steering is too light for my driving, it's pas isn't it. So as a guess the pump for the steering is powered by either the engine (like the brakes) with a vacuum etc or electrically.

If it's powered electrically could you change the power going to the pump to make the steering more "feely", or is there any other way to do it.

If I'm being my usual dumbass self let me know :)

Thanks

Rob

independent aswell, I don't think you can adjust it though.

but in theory you could probably use a certain resistor to limit the power going to the pump thus giving you lower pressure. Need one of the pros on here to check the thread really

In theroy yes it could be done due to the fact its electric. Carnt say i have ever seen it tested before though. They are not the strongest of items which would be my only concern so may not beable to work at a lower load. It wouldnt take much to wire it in so give it a try. But if it breaks its expensive to replace.

Personaly i dont think the steering is light in the slighest on them so if you want it less then just remove the PAS all together?

My last west coast had a switch in the dashboard under the steering wheel, next to a dial which i think dimmed the dash lights? which I couldn't work out what it did but found out by accident that it turned off the power steering pump, so as Aron says in theory it can be done if you're decent enough with electronics etc

Just wondering if it could be done tbh, I might like the weight of it not sure yet tbh.

Drove a vtr yesterday steering is nice but i'd like some more weight to it so has anyone got an idea of how to do this?

Just thought it was a little light?
I find that with mine, i'd like it to be a little more weighty so that it has a bit more feeling, sometimes you'll think its fine and then suddenly when you push a bit more it'll let go with little feedback..

PAS is gay, take it off

How captain nova? I just wanna make the pump run at lower pressure so steering gets heavier

can you not just take the pump off?

vtr steering is pretty heavy compared to a lot of other cars e.g clios my moms clio ridiculously light, i put a crack in my pas pump when i fitted my 16v engine that gives the steering a bit of weight :P
