my abs light has recently come on. what else can ido apart from take it for a diagnostic check?(as i dont have the money at the mo and its got to be mot'd soon) or unplug the battery for a while (just to double check disconnecting the battery wont do anything to my car just reset the clock right?)

ive had a search and thats all i can find

just put some black tape over it for the MOT... cant see it, cant fail it ;)

wouldnt they no it wernt working if they stomp on the brakes and the wheels lock up?? as they wouldnt lock up as much with the abs working would it.

the wheels dont have to lock up during at mot, they just have to be able to resist a certain percentage.
during an MOT they put the car on a rolling road and have to apply pressure to the brakes, not "slam" the on to see if you stop. iv had cars come in, and been failed because their pads are too low! but passed the brake test fine!

just because the ABS light is on, doesnt mean he ABS isnt working, it could be a few things. but yes it could be worth getting it checked out.

Will most likely be a broken ABS sensor - see here (http://www.saxosportsclub.com/ForumsPro/viewtopic/p=937434.html) for finding out which one is broken.

maybe pads need replacing and maybe they have a wire in them that indicates low brake pad im putting new discs and pads on mine this weekend as my lights on

abs light will only come on if there is a fault with the system its to let you know abs will not work in emergency but you will still have normal brakes you will need to plug it in to diagnose it and reset it can be silly stuff like cv grease on drive shaft ring etc but even if this is the case it will need reset after fault fixed
