Bump stops are there to stop damage. You can cut them down but the more you cut off the more open you leave you car to damage. What they do is when you run out of travel rather then suddenly shifting all the load in to the vehicle it slowly decelerates the wheel. Normally the front that will hit before the rear does when lowering.

i know what there ther for, but my axel is about 1cm away when stationary so its hitting on big bumps, cos i live in the middle of the country

my rear axel is lowered 70mm and only about 10mm from the bumpstop. bit uncomfortable when with a full car but doesnt bother me all too much. you could get bumpstops from a series 1 106, there smaller if i remember correctly

i would recommend cutting the bump stops, but you will need to modify more on the arches, were the bumper connects at the back, grinder job
