Rang around all my local garages as the car needs a new head gasket due to overheating etc (said this loads so won't repeat story). Needs the head skimming and everything.
Anyway they are all quoting £600.
I don't know what to do because since owning the car i've already shelled out £1,200 within a year. The car was brought at £2,000.
Arghhh :(

which engine is it? Cheaper to buy a replacement and get that fitted? Seen low mileage vtr engines for less than 200.

If I had the cash, I would probably stick a new engine in it myself. Save the hassle, plus, everything new, so you would have at least 3 years before major things started going wrong. Though, you could always upgrade the engine, depending what you already have in there, and if you got the cash to sort out the paperwork and such.

It would only cost £100 not even that for the bits! Id never done one before but took on my old vtr and did it, iv now done my 16v twice with ease. If i was closer to you i would have done it for a oner! with bits ontop probs nomore than £200.

They all saying it here because they ripping off idiots. I don't trust most of the garages because they have messed the car in the past. I couldn't move the car far because it's basically dead should I say.
I don't trust most of the garages as said because:
one messed my sunroof which I had repaired
one messed the whole back end of my exhaust
another just get raping me for more money for parts when the axle was changed
Stupid really. Just wanted it fixed. The money is not an issue to me. Just having fun driving a Fiat Scudo at the moment.
