Amazing Kit mate, had it on my GTI with Eibach 50mm springs. It was stiff but it wasn't crashy, was a very subtl kit if you drove sensible and was very firm if you threw it into corners.

Once I got caught out in my GTI not proud to say so had to lift off at high speed and the car stayed planted this setup is amazing.

Exactly how I'd describe it, Stiff but Smooth.

Whats the ride like on a VTS/GTI with an Apex kit (compared to standard) ?

We recommend this as a budget kit. Personally I think the Apex suspension kit for saxo (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-suspension/suspension-kits/apex-sports-suspension-kit-citroen-saxo-50mm.html) is the best value for money for around £200

Does the 35mm kit lower thr Vtr that amount

VTR and VTS only 25mm lowering. We list them separately to aid clarity.

Spax 40mm spring (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-suspension/lowering-springs/spax-ssx-spring-kit-for-citroen-saxo-1-4-1-5d-1-6-vtr-vts-40mm.html) will lower the VTR / VTS around 30-35mm
Full VSX 40mm lowering kit (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-suspension/suspension-kits/citroen-saxo-1-4-1-5d-1-6-vtr-1-6-16v-vts-spax-vsx-suspension-kit-40mm.html) is £238

Rear shockers are fine at 50mm lowering. We have had no customer issues with these at all so they are well made and reliable.

http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/improve/uprated-suspension.html seems cheaper (sorry KamRacing)

I was just about to start a thread myself, I wanted to go down 40-50mm so a APEX 35mm wont be low enough.

Option 1: APEX dampers rear/front with SPAX OR Alternate 40mm springs (heard these are not as good as APEX springs though?! and will 40mm springs be OK on 35mm dampers?)
Option 2: APEX full 50mm kit
Option 3: SPAX VSX kit 40mm Kit (Why is this more expensive?!)

Opinions?

Personally I haven't decided which looks best, alot of 40mm and 50mm cars look the same and i've heard 40mm is good for handling - slightly scared i'll go for 40mm and it wont look low enough, no point i spending 200-300 quid for little/no result eh?

We are £2 cheaper for the Apex suspension kit and £2 cheaper on postage.
Spax VSX full suspension kit we are £50 cheaper!

Kamracing, that hasn't answered quite answered my question. How do they ride and handle compared to standard?

Do they feel cheap i..e bumpy, bouncy, crashy? I'm looking more towards the 25mm set up, obviously at 50mm it's going to be a compromise with short suspension travel.

Cheers!

Its a little hard to quantify as opinion is so subjective but it uses stiffer dampers so bodyroll is far more controlled. Its not too stiff to have you bouncing around all over the place so for a performance kit is comfortable.
If you want another alternative for around 20mm then you could either use B4 dampers (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-suspension/shock-absorbers/citroen-saxo-bilstein-b4-dampers.html) for a soft but lower ride (OEM but fresh) or Bilstein B6 (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-suspension/shock-absorbers/citroen-saxo-bilstein-b6-dampers.html) (30% uprated) and then use Eibach pro kit springs (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-suspension/lowering-springs/eibach-pro-kit-springs-citroen-saxo.html). With the B4's it will be a OEM+ setup due to the eibachs, the B6 and Eibach (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-suspension/suspension-kits/citroen-saxo-bilstein-eibach-road-suspension-kit.html) offering superior damping and ride due to better materials. (GTI will not be lowered 30mm)

Thats just the info I was after, cheers :)

I'm doing a deal with someone for some Eibach pro springs (how much do they lower a GTI by; 25mm or so?) to be paired up with some Bilstein B4 dampers for the exact reasons you mentioned.

Are the B4's ok to be lowered with? Say 25mm on the rear to match the front?

I'll give your sales line a call tomorrow so we can discuss them a bit further!

KamRacing
7th June 2011, 20:01
B4's are a full length damper so I would never run lower than 25-30mm on them. The Eibach Pro-kit will be about 20-25mm on the gti

Alex16v
7th June 2011, 20:12
Thanks mate...Would you be able to do a deal on the B4's ;)?

Fair play.

Still i was more interested in your option on the springs. Im defo in the market!

KamRacing

Personally I would match the springs and dampers together. I doubt the spax and apex are massively different in poundage but the material used will give a variance to characteristics..
As for the price difference between spax and apex. We have the Apex on a massive discount. RRP is £250 + vat so puts it in the same price band as the Spax.
