as some of you may have seen at fcs, my windows were really dirty, looked almost dusty?
if you run your hand over it you can almost feel the dots on there, have washed them and nothing, overspray must have been from before we painted it as i personally took the glass out lol so i know it wasnt us.
any ideas of how to get this stuff off? is it a case of keep going over it?
id get pics but i have no camera :( lol
its really annoying :(

Id say best bet would be a good clay bar, medium- aggresive, make sure its well lubed.

I used to work in a bodyshop and wire wool works a treat - it doesn't leave marks providing they are not tinted.

Clay them, I did it to mine just before FCS after colour coding, the glass looked clear but the clay turned blue! lol, just make sure it's very lubed up so not to marr it!

Petrol/Nail varnish remover works a treat for getting paint off of glass. I should know.

Clay like David has mentioned, the Megs medium or Aggressive will work no probs.

Also an IPA wipedown after then seal them!!!

My other half had this and used a blade across the glass and came straight off. (blade off like a stanley etc..)

I took this when I clayed my sunroof a couple of weeks ago. 50/50 comparison.

And no it's not dust, it's bonded on overspray. Had been snow foamed twice, washed twice before claying. Ultra Fine clay took most of it off but medium clay would be needed to make it 100%.

all i've used on overspray is warm water, the "rough" side of sponges you use for washing up, the "scourer" bit? and a bit of good old fashioned elbow grease. A lot cheaper than any claybar. Does the job fine. Dont get the sponge bit soaking though, just a bit damp. Doesn't scratch the glass neither

Kill 2 birds with 1 stone, and use some g3 compound on it.Youll have perfectly clear glass after, and youve got rid of your overspray.:y:

nicole_

elbow grease :D i have long nails and if i put a cloth round my finger and rubbed it was sharp enough to scratch the paint off but not scratch the glass,
proper hard work though :(

Oh dear,i think some of you boys need a lesson in paintwork.I am still struggling to understand why you would need to clay it then mop, when the mop does the lot in one go,using the proper "PROFFESIONAL" stuff that is.I think you must be using turtle wax polish or summat LOL,and by the way i wasent born in a circus nor do i work in one,so in my book that doesent make me a clown.

Just out of interest mate how long would it take you to machine polish a car because for £30 either your working for next to nothing or your just shit and i can bet its the latter, perhaps producing finishes like these!

Please refrain from making comments on the Detailing section when you clearly talk crap!

Well said David. I think you just said what was on all us whores minds lol.

I really can't see how you could think a car DOESN'T have to be clayed before machine polishing.

Imma tempted to get a panel and waste a few pads by doing a 50:50 for claying vs. Non claying for machine polishing... NAAAAAAT

Blade and glass you will need to be very careful

Prevention is the best key, ie taping and masking up but seen as though its already donje you cant beat claybar, Clay was originally used in bodyshops for overspray then the detailing whores got a hold of it :p

And oh dear just seen it, claying has to be done before polishing or you will end up making it just worse than it already is :wall:

Occupation hairdresser part time ive killed your paintwork

LOL,LOL,LOL,Who am i talking to,the mafia.Right to sum things up here a bit,the stuff i use is g3 compound, which basicly removes evrything from the paint including tar, bird shit, swirls etc. After this it has a coat of wax/polish,so thats why i dont clay because the compound does it for me.Ive done a fair few cars this way with no complaints and damn good results.

Bet you also use a rotary and burn straight through the paint you are soooo good, It looks amazing as there's probably no freaking clear coat left, Please, get out

£30 for machine polishing? Does that include new pads for each one etc? I Doubt it, It costs me at least £35-40 for materials alone each car I do! For friends it costs them £60 and still takes me around 10-13 hours for a full detail.

Just leave before you reallly make a twat of yourself anymore

Yep i use a 2 speed makita mop,and no i dont burn through the paint,as i happen to know what i am actually doing, and for your information, mop heads are only £6 each, and dont need to change em every car you do.£35 for materials:fcuk:,What exactly are you polishing, the QE2 or summat. It costs me £12 a bottle of g3,and can do ex amount of cars with it,so who looks the twat now.:clapping:
