View Full Version : Clutch Problems

The other day I was driving along as normal, went to put my foot on the clutch and it was all spongey and the biting point was sooner. The clutch also didnt retract as far as it used to. I carried on though as it still seem to work fine.
Anyway the other day I tried to pull away with a lot of throttle and the clutch just slipped and since then it now slips every time I put my foot down.
It seemed better today and wasnt slipping at all at full throttle for the first 10 minutes and then eventually it started again.

I was told that the clutches on saxos are self adjusting? If that's the case then could it be that the self adjusting mechanism is not letting the clutch engage properly? Causing it to slip? Or is it new clutch time? Bearing mind I've never had a problem with the clutch on this car since I've owned it (just over a year).
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hi, I am not aware of any self-adjusting clutch on any Saxo model. They are cable operated and the adjustment is on the cable at the clutch/gearbox end.

That said, trouble selecting gears is usually the fault of a badly adjusted clutch.

Sounds to me that you need a new clutch. Try pulling away in 4th gear, if you can without stalling then your clutch needs changing.
